Guys,
What do you guys do with the pingbacks to your blog that you get from different sites?
I've been getting massive amounts that show up as comments on my blog since I started using the Unique Article Wizard - but i've never really figured out what to do with them.
And what do they even really mean?

Hey Linus, yeh I get the same thing, and I have never found the answer. I would be interested in your article info though. What are you doing and where do you post etc?

Re: What Do You Do With Pingbacks?
I delete them....
This is the way I figure it... the pingback lets you know that your article is being referenced and listed on the other site and that you now have a link coming from that site back to yours. You are under no obligation to accept the pingback and I don't see any reason to do so.
You dont want all your recent comments etc to be showing up as pingbacks, You want to have community and conversation and these pingbacks interfere with that.
Just my two cents..
Roger .

Re: What Do You Do With Pingbacks?
One thing you can do, and I'd recommend doing this if you want to maximize the value of those links.....is to go to those sites that you are getting pingbacks from, and you can boost those links to ensure they are getting indexed in the search engines.
Remember, even though something is published and you get pingback.....this does not necessarily mean that those links back to your site are getting indexed by the search engines.
A pingback is simply another WP blog showing that they are linking to you.
As is the case with quite a few blog networks out there (including UAW, which is a fantastic blog network) there are a good % of those links that never get indexed...therefore, you don't get credit for those links in the search engines.
By boosting, I mean you can create links to those links from high pr sites (links for your links). You can either do this manually or there are automated solutions that can help you do that.
Again, the idea isn't necessarily to add link value to those links....just to ensure you are getting them indexed in the search engines and getting link credit and the corresponding boost in rankings.
Can be a confusing topic, but really it will help you alot in your SEO efforts.
Hope that helps.

@ Greg - what article post are you referring to?
@ Kurt - When you're talking about getting those links indexed, what exactly are you referring to? Do you mean to use something like Onlywire to bookmark it, or something completely different to get the pingbacks indexed?

Re: What Do You Do With Pingbacks?
Greg,
On a basic level, "Unique Article Wizard" is another article spinner and submitter just like "Automatic Article Submitter", but different in it's technology.
With UAW, you go through and rewrite your article, paragraph by paragraph. For me, this was awesome because instead of a few words changed with AAS, I was changing the whole paragraph and increasing the "unique" score of the article.
so basically, you rewritten the entire article 3 times: the title a minimum of 3 times, each paragraph 3 times, and as many article resource boxes.
What I have noticed with UAW is that you also DO NOT have to go and pre-register with UAW for all of the article sites like you do with AAS. UAW just submits them for you under your name or a pen name.
Plus, you have a greater chance of getting your article posted on a greater number of sites.
200+ with AAS, and currently with my first article that finished submitting over the last week, I am up to 400+ sites.
Now what I was referring to earlier was the Pingbacks letting people know when a site has accepted your article and is pinging your blog.
I have gotten A LOT more of them from UAW than AAS, head to head, article to article.
There are some intricacies with UAW that I am still trying to get down. But all in all, I certainly like UAW better than AAS thus far.
I hope that helps!

Re: What Do You Do With Pingbacks?
There are a couple different ways to do it, manually or with some off the shelf solutions you can buy that will help you get your pingbacks indexed.
Onlywire is a possibility, but is pretty buggy. Iv'e found that using that alone won't do the trick, as alot of the sites that you are getting links from need a little more help getting the articles indexed.
Here is a quick process that I've come up with that helps get pingbacks indexed doing it manually.
- Ping the article linking back to you with pingomatic or pingler
- Bookmark the article with just a couple sites, some of the big ones like Digg, Delicious, Reddit, Mister-Wong.
- Create an RSS feed out off that article using either html2rss.com or icerocket.com
- Take that RSS feed, and submit it to several RSS directories. Personally I use RSSBot for thing like this.
- Submit the RSS feed to Google Blog search
Now that is just a quick process for it, you can leverage other sites that are crawled all the time and just drop a link there to help get your backlinks indexed.
Yep, sounds like alot of work, but if you truly are going after search engine rankings you really need to maximize the value of the backlinks and money you are putting towards it.

Extremely valuable input Kurt. Here's a blog post on what I use for automating "alot of work"

Re: What Do You Do With Pingbacks?
Kurt,
as always...I asked, and you delivered once again. Thanks for the flow of indexing your pingbacks brother!
As it does seem rather labor intensive, it is that hard work that pays off and will certainly separate the "men from the boys" ( sorry ladies...no slam intended)
