How Can You Tell When Network Marketing Is Not For You?
I ask your opinion on this because I have been around Network Marketing for about 30 years and have never "made it." I realize that some of the time it has been that the company is not set up to pay part timers fairly, I also realize that the biggest problem is me. I keep coming back as I have a deep rooted belief that this industry works. I am not a computer wizard so PPC, SEO, Autoresponders, building splash pages are like talking in greek but I hate the 3 foot rule. Any suggestions?

Re: How Can You Tell When Network Marketing Is Not For You?
Hi Donnie,
I too have been around the industry for a few years. I got turned on to MLM in 1980 at the age of 20. I was approached by a carpenter who was working on my neighbors house. I thought he was going to hire me as an apprentice and teach me carpentry.
At the time I was working for an airline, TWA, who is no longer in business. He let me go to a breakfast with his wife, heck I did not know what I was going to, he just kept telling me it was a way for me to be my own boss and have nice cars and lots of money.
I later found out it was an Amway presentation. I didn't join but I sure left that meeting a changed person. I knew that I did not want to alwasy work for someone else.
In 1996 I got a direct mail flyer about company out of Kentucky, called New Image International. I liked what I read and joined.
Now although I was here in Kansas City all by my lonesome, because of the great unified training in place with New Image International, it afforded me the same opportunity to succeed as anyone other New Image distributor in any other City in the USA.
I was new to MLM, but I was able to retail quite a bit of product, we sold a weight loss product.
I hate retailing but I have seemingly always been able to retail, go fig.
One probelm I noticed was that people who joined me would quit shortly thereafter and be off to the next hot or new deal. I now realize I cannot control others, but I can work on me.
I have not found a better business model for the average working person that allows you to generate and leverage wealth building, then with the MLM/NWM industry.
Plus, we offer some of the best life changing products and services in the world.
So, unless and until I can find something better than this, I'm in for the long haul.
Willie

Donnie, you know it's not for you if you're a quitter. You have to be in it for the long haul, however long it takes you to do the personal development needed for you to believe you can do it. It's not a job, it's a lifestyle! It ain't over until you decide it's over!!

You've got three options...get a 40-60 hr week job, build your own biz via network marketing, or do nothing...your call at that point

Hey there Donnie,
First of all, I want to applaud you for sticking in there.
But you nailed it when you said the problem is you. Before you can begin to establish any level of success, you have to first fix Donnie.
What many people fail to understand and what some will not admit, is that MLM is a skill....
And like any skill, it has to be learned, at least for the majority. Yes there are those who just naturally have certain skills, but most of us have to work at developing them.
You listed the things you struggle with so now it's a matter of working hard to get better at them.... and "Increase your value"!
If you have what it takes to hang in there this long, then you obvious have what it takes to learn the necessary skills of this industry.

It is not for you if ....
1. You have no time
2. You have no money
3. You have no why
4. You would rather watch a movie then make a friend
5. You do not want to treat it like a Multi Million Dollar Business that it is
6. You are not coachable
7. You will not ask questions
8. You do not like People
9. You have no passion
10. You are not a Proud Network Marketer
11. YOu would rather spend your money on Beer and Smokes then invest in your Business
Donnie I do not think this describes you but this is what I would say is the answer to your question.

Thank You everyone for your great responses. I figure it is like talking the talk or walking the walk. I can know all of the right things to say, I can have all of the right skills but unless I put them into action they are not worth a can of beans. Joyce, that was a great article you posted, thank you. I believe this is what BN is all about, people helping people solve their problems. The same thing holds true with Network Marketing, it is a people helping people industry. It must be time to get off my ass and help people which in turn will help me solve my own problems. You guys (and girls) are the best.

Thanks Juanita, none of those 11 things fit me exactly. I have limited time due to my full time job as a nurse but I have enough time for a part time business. Money is tight till the wife goes back to work but somehow things have always worked for me and I have not gone hungry in a lot of years. I can't remember the last time I bought a beer, smokes is another thing though lol. I wouldn't be a nurse if I didn't like people, I have a huge why, I am coachable and I ask a lot of questions. I think it is time to build Donnie and the business will follow. Juanita, thanks for the wonderful reply.

Donnie I think I can speak for the majority when I say, "We believe in you, now you must believe in yourself!"
