CommentLuv or Disqus? Which commenting system should you use?

I have been using Disqus for some time now and have noticed that a lot of bloggers use CommentLuv.

Which one do you think is the best and why?

For my nerve centre I'm building my own comment system. Disquis I hear is quite good but never used it though.

Hi Mavis,

What I have noticed is that when I comment on blogs that use the Disqus system my Commentluv last block post link doesn't show up.

I love Commentluv because I want to give back some "link love" to those who comment on my blog

Disqus is cool and most likely what I will be using on my new blog coming out in a couple days.

But what I found is that it is a pain in the rear to integrate it into an existing blog, especially if you have a lot of comments. Or any for that matter. The transfer process was kinda lame and not accurate, so I uninstalled it on my richardbravo.com site.

The sites I have seen using it are pretty sweet though and I like the ability it provides for multiple login options.

Many comment logins only recognize Gravatar IDs, whereas Disqus allows you to login with your Facebook id, Twitter id, OpenId and Yahoo! id.

The only caution is that with all things where you don't own the software, just be aware if Disqus goes down in some way, so does your blog's comment functionality.

I use CommentLuv to provide "link juice" which I think encourages comments. I am not that familiar with Disqus. I did try to install Disqus at one point and, like Richard mentioned, my existing comments disappeared from my blog so I uninstalled it.

I am a big fan of CommentLuv. I tend to not even comment on a blog that has Disqus. I just hate having to log into something and then not even get a chance as to what blog I want to link to.

What would be really nice is if CommentLuv worked WITH Disqus so we could have the threaded comments, the tracking, but also had the SEO benefits.

Here's another vote for Comment Luv.... It's such a great way to thank the visitors who take the time to comment on your blog post by showing their last blog post title. It integrates seamlessly with a Wordpress blog. We use it in addition to the Top Commentators plug-in/widget.
