Yea, whenever I'm pulling up a site and all of a sudden the screen goes dark and a big window gets in the way then I get ticked off. A simple Opt In Box to the side is more professional and it allows people to actually read your content to make a decision

If you are going to use a pop up, try setting it to work when someone is about to leave. That's the respectful way of doing it... should you do it all.

Claire also,
I just went to your website and I noticed a MAJOR issue that (when corrected) might improve your regular opt in rate.
It's the LACK of WHITE SPACE. Having a black background is great and really looks sharp. Plus is helps certain things pop off the page. But I really had to search for about 2 seconds to distinguish how many columns you had, where your information was and what I should be looking for.
Having a black background is confusing and not ment for our line of work. Try setting your background to white, blue or grey. This should help you even more with your conversions.
Plus, I saw your pop up. The benefit to that was it had white space. It was specific and I knew what I had to do. Otherwise... I was lost on your site.

PS. I hate it when people call themselves coaches. This is a black list word or at least is heading down the road to be one. Try not using it.

Well I actually looked at the pop up and it actually fades in and has a clear exit and it didn't come up the second time I visited the site.
I still don't like pop-ups but having a somewhat friendly popup may not actually scare off anyone....maybe.
Everyone has a different way of hocking their wares and not everyone uses the same "equipment"...RIGHT JAMES????

Industry rhetoric kills sales.
But "sounds" good on forums?
The ONLY people who are "experts"
and "coaches" in sales and marketing
have a TRACK RECORD of above average
performance in SALES and MARKETING.
Period.
About 2-3 years ago some people started
thinking that it would be ok pretending
to be "experts" and calling themselves
that in public.
NOWHERE ELSE IN THE BUSINESS WORLD
does this really fly. But we all know if
you're just sitting home on a laptop,
you can basically say anything you want.
No burden of proof or accountability.
More people would truly be served if
their was just a tad bit more honesty
and transparency in this industry, but
anyway...
Popups
Widgets of the day
Blogs plugins
etc. (yawn) etc.
How many strangers did you turn into friends?
How many leads are eagerly doing business with you?
Are you attracting a crowd?
Are you inciting a movement?
Is there a crowd (think starbucks or barnes & noble)
outside your online "spot" waiting on your to move them?
Is the cash register ringing?
Lame rhetoric and industry dribble articles
regurgitating what the last wanna-be "goo-roo"
said in some webinar or eBook do not attract
eager crowds because EVERYONE is doing this...
Look around.
Who's really sticking out like a sore thumb?
Who's polarizing crowds and ticking people off?
Who's being authentic and posting relevance
that can truly serve others?
If that's you...
You won't have time to be posting
stats on "exit pop ups"
Love you.
Pushing you to massive success...
That's why I'm here. After 9 years.
Push for uniqueness.
Push and work into agony for relevance.
SERVE the market.
Industry rhetoric is old as dirt and
NEVER produces any significance...
Just perpetuates dead downlines...
Think... and grow dowlines.

Nice discussion.
As always - the key is traffic.
I put up a youtube video on how to get massive VIRAL traffic to your blog.
I hope that helps.

Hi Claire,
I just wanted to say that the video was very helpful and informative to anyone that wants to add a pop-up form to their blog. Regardless of percentages, statistics, or if someone should have a pop-up form on their blog or not, the actual video was very professional and informative so Thank You for the content.
P.S. I researched your website on Alexa and Website Grader and you have some very impressive results.
Alexa-Site Information for workwithclairegalea.com
* Alexa Traffic Rank: 271,143
* United States Flag Traffic Rank in US: 213,907
* Sites Linking In: 25
Website Grader-96
Great Work!!!

About 2-3 years ago some people started

Look I just want to put this out there.
YOU CAN BE AN EXPERT ABOUT ANY TOPIC and it's really not all that hard.
However, calling yourself a "Trainer" or "Coach" is the line in the sand for me. The reason is because ALL COACHES and TRAINERS must be able to show their track record. Most people wouldn't be able to show this. Plus... it requires years of proof and tons of testimonials.
This is why I HATE when people call themselves coaches and trainers.
An expert is a little more understandable. You can do tons of research and acquire enough knowledge to know more than the majority of people who know anything about your specific topic. That can give you the appearance of being an expert and that is perfectly fine.
There... I said it and now I'm off my soap box.

Re: Adding a Popup Webform To Your Blog (Gets me 75% More Leads)
This is getting way off topic everyone. Claire posted a great video about installing a pop up form onto a blog and now everyone is hammering her for no reason. She didn't make a post about being a coach or trainer, and she also didn't ask anyone to critique her blog. I'm sure that we can all look at each others blogs and find something wrong with them. Before you go criticizing her, why don't you look at the things she's doing right. She has a professional blog that delivers good traffic rankings. Who cares what anyone thinks about her blog. That wasn't the point of this thread.
Stay on topic and only comment on the video that she made. Stop criticizing her please.
This thread is getting way out of hand.
Thank You!
