The Key To Time Management - "Putting First Things First"

Postby Michael Stead on Tue Sep 14, 2010 1:21 pm

Have you ever felt like you aren’t as productive as you could be? Are things piling up in your life that are causing you a lot of stress? Like it or not, our time on this planet is EXTREMELY limited and unless we are getting the most out of each and every day, we will fall behind and lose focus on our objectives.

Time management is a VERY broad subject that has gotten a lot of attention over the past few years being that people’s expectations are increasingly becoming higher and higher and people want things done faster and faster.

While we can’t add more hours into a day, I have some very simple strategies that you can begin using that will help you get the most out of your day and will start moving you towards top producer status very quickly. Watch this powerful video below and see how “Putting First Things First” will GREATLY improve the quality of your life.

Simple right? However, don’t let the simplicity of this strategy evade you. Being productive and effective is NOT difficult it is just a matter of choice and being organized to get things done that need to get done. “Putting First Things First” is a strategy that can completely change your life provided that you follow this easy model of behavior.

So what time management tips do you use on a daily basis? Share your thoughts and insights with me by leaving a comment in the box below and let me know what has worked well for you.

I hope you’re having an awesome day and I look forward to speaking with you real soon. Go forth and live with passion :)

Yours in mastery,

Hi Michael,

Interesting and simple.

I think Mike Dillard uses a similar system (from memory) taking "5" tasks and writing
them on his notepad each night for the next day.

I have adopted an 3-5 outcomes for the week approach and working backwards to assess
how much I need to do each day.

Hey Aaron,

Good stuff my friend! The most important thing is to always make it a priority to get the big things done on your list first before you tackle any of the small stuff. If you aren't being absolutely clear on what it is that you need to get done, then you are going to be constantly pulled off track by all the little distractions that we all face on a daily basis.

Keep up the good work buddy.

See you at the top,

Hey Michael,

Good point doing the "big" things first.

As I know it's easy to leave these to last.

Hey Aaron,

I think the biggest issue with this is that the big things that we have to get done in our day are well...BIG! This can be an intimidating factor for most people which causes them to procrastinate but in all reality, what they are actually doing is simply focusing on how much work it is going to take in order to get these things done instead of focusing on the benefit they're going to receive by completing these activities.

Granted, the people that focus on the work aspect of it generally are pretty lazy and don't take the time to really develop themselves. Momentum works both ways and if people can just start getting themselves into a state of action, it will be very hard for them to slow themselves down.

Great topic! Manage yourself in time by putting tasks into compartments. Fill in your calendar daily, weekly, monthly. Be sure to include your vacation date blocks. Chunk down your tasks.

7am to 730 work out
731am to 8am prepare and eat breakfast
830 check social sites and measure stats.
900 to 11am - solid phone calls if that is your business....writing copy of whatever it is you do.

you get the idea...everything goes on the schedule....all the appointments, teleseminars, webinars, blog posts

More importantly, at the end of the day journal your accomplishments so at the end of the week you will feel satisified and ready to reward yourself.

Hey Michael,
A great video. I totally agree with you and I can vouch that it does work! I've been doing this for the past few years and you could say that it's the secret to my success.

Especially if you are a new Internet Marketer and started working from home without a Boss telling you what to do all day, you can easily be set off track with your new freedom.

So spend your time wisely and do the 6 things you planned everyday. You are not allowed to sleep till they are complete!

All the best

Hey Michael,

State of action is probably the Biggie of the BIG. No action = no results, guaranteed.
