Marketing via Social Media? YOU'RE ANNOYING ME!!!

Postby Sebastian Latina on Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:23 pm

Hello all,

I have friended some fellow network marketers via Facebook, Twitter, & Linkedin. My intention was to develop relationships. Would you like to know what happened instead? I'm sure you already know. Every 1/2 hour to 1 hour I get posts of someone promoting their opportunity, and of course their opportunity is always the best. I read comments like these..."everyone shops, why not get paid for it" or "get in now, pre-launch", "pre-enrollment", etc. etc. etc. I'm tired of it :x . Haven't these people realized that all they do is ANNOY others. I am going through my friend list and removing each and everyone of those ridiculous marketers off of my social media sites. If you're marketing this way stop, and if you're thinking about marketing this way, don't. Create relationships, this is Network Marketing, remember that there is a real person on the other end of that computer.

Have a great day! :)

Hey Sebastian,

Good point. A tip I can give you and the rest is that you should educate them by telling them something like:

"Hey (name), I don't think this is really good marketing and you will barely get any results like this. Why don't you check out Magnetic Sponsoring which will give you results? (Insert affiliate link)"

You are so right, Sebastian! I try to tell my friends on facebook that this is a social media network not a social marketing. You tell me you want to talk to me. All I hear is your advertising your product or service. That's not talking to me about yourself and improvement. That is pure and simple marketing me to your idea. If I am in need of your product or service, I'll call you.

Amen to that. I have trouble finding "friends" who are not selling me something. I use a private list on Twitter so I can just read the few folks that are actually worth following. Does Facebook have a similar filter to block out the noise?

There is a solution to all this madness.
If you have aweber or getresponse account:
setup 2 email campaign:

Example:
1#...selltome233232@getresponse.com or aweber
2#....bemyfriends234r3243@getresponse.com or aweber

1. for people who wants to sell you stuff...
2. for people who wants to be your friends and network

when they email you... they are AUTOMATICALLY OPT-IN
look into this feature... you will love it.

Before I hate spammer... NOW I LOVE THEM!!!!
remember,,, behind every spammer, there's a real person,
it's not their fault,,, they are being taught that by the internet guru!
WHO WANTS TO RECRUIT ME? I'll look at your site....
Email your website here: betternetworkerfriends@getresponse.com

John, I love your suggestions. Do you put your getresponse links in your tweets?

Everyone has an online agenda.....

Be careful how you spend your time on Social sites like Facebook... don't waste too much time with people that only want to sell you something...

One idea is to build friendships with people outside of the network marketing arena.... or ones that are not so obviously building their business online... this will give you an opportunity as the relationship builds to offer your company if there seems to be a fit.

Caution... Don't wait too long.. Done right you can sponsor people every single week working on sites like Facebook.. you just need to follow a proven step by step realtionship building program that does not follow all the shameless promoters..

Best of success

Building relationships in the online and offline world is wonderful. However, when is the right time to introduce your business opportunity. Is it after you have known someone one week, one month, one year a decade? How many back and forth messages and chats should take place? Would 50 interchanges be sufficient? This is kind of hard to do if one has over 1000 connections on social media. Now, this does not mean someone go and spam a forum such as BN or Facebook. Wall. It is so confusing on what is the right thing to do.

If everyone seeking to build their business waited until someone let them know they were interested they would be broke and starve. I think maybe the first time or second time is not the right time to talk about biz. Prior to the internet the door to door salesman didn’t wait for someone to visit them at their home.

Honestly, if I am going to be restricted from talking about my business or if people are going to give me grief or negative attitude then I might as well quit and stick to my regular job. We as a society are constantly pitched to via radio, television, emails, internet, print, billboards, etc. We all a choice in each and everyone, either respond or ignore.

Sebastian,

I can relate as most of us here can. However, sometimes people who market that way are brand new and may be told by their upline to use these (wrong) tactics. Before you go ahead and remove all of these people from your friends list, maybe connect with them and teach them how to do it the right way. You might find some REAL friends that way, people who truly appreciate you for telling them.

Good luck to you!

I agree with this post. I have been known to cancel my account and leave some sites because of this. That's why I love BN. The rules make it work!

Thank You BN!
