Is everyone an expert?

Postby Jeremy DeGrasse on Wed Mar 02, 2011 4:24 pm

First let me state up front that I am completely new to network marketing. I've been spending a lot of time reading articles and blogs and pouring over this and other sites to learn what to do and not to do. I'm surely learning a lot and trying to put into use some of the practices I'm reading about. I'm very comfortable with the new school (internet) and still working on the old school. Some of this, I suppose, is partially a reason to spend time thinking about self improvement. If it's to make money I shouldn't think it foolish, right? ;)

What I've found surprising is that there are so many websites that exist only to sell you their proven way to succeed at network marketing. It looks as though one of the best ways to make money in network marketing is to show other people how to do it. Now I'm not criticizing this at all. Its just an observation that caught me off guard. I have greatly benefited from all the free training materials available. However, if I decide to spend any money where do I start?

Anyway, I'm new here and to the industry. Just wanted to share a thought while endlessly browsing and trying to learn.

thanks
Jeremy

If you are going to spend money, spend it on education that will pay you for a lifetime. Regards your question though...no not everyone is an expert. Experts are people who have mastered a skill and have applied it and has given them results already ;)

You don't have to be a trainer or teacher, however, the skill of teaching others how to succeed is the most highly sought after skill in the industry today.
So if you want a guaranteed business model, being a network marketing teacher or trainer is a great way to go.
But, of course, the best way to be a teacher is to go out and learn yourself. So start somewhere (like by recruiting people into your opportunity).
Keep Rocking my friend, and welcome.

There's a lot of people that are successful in network marketing because there are a lot of different ways to be successful. Then there is what defines success. I think I'm successful because I make my living from network marketing although I'm not a millionaire and I don't make a six figure income.

As far as where to start....Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich is a great start and you can get the book anywhere

Hey Jeremy,
I know what you mean, it does seem like everyone's an expert & wants to show you their way to success, huh? And it can be seriously overwhelming trying to figure it all out....I hear ya!
I think the best way to look at it is as a journey though I guess. In that by shifting through everyone's stuff it gives you an idea of what's out there, and what to do or not to do!
If I could offer you one piece of advice, it would be to stick with people that resonate with you. Go with your gut. If you aren't on the same page as someone, move on. Next.
And if you haven't read Magnetic Sponsoring by Mike Dillard, go get yourself a copy. At this point I could offer you a link (as you become an affiliate also, when you buy it) so that I get my cut, but that would make me no better than every other chump out there who's looking to make a buck off of everyone else! :)
Drop me a line if I can help any more.
Lee
PS. I ain't no expert, but maybe a little further down the road than you are :)

You must be a professional pointer. That is to edify your sponsor and tell him what he has been doing to make other people successful.

An example would be this "X leader was in this situation and now he is having amazing success in his business."

Hi Jeremy. Welcome to this exciting, challenging and lucrative world !

Jeremy I know you're going to catch this and appreciate it. You are going to start with a free product (an ebook), then you will move up to a product that you sell (a video training), moving up many different but complimentary products for sale (bundled into a complete soup to nuts training series) and eventually you may JV with someone to create a whole system.

The reason YOU are going to do it is because you are going to attract (which is why you need to read Magnetic Sponsoring) other entrepreneurs to you who desire to create an excess of wealth. They will appreciate you free ebook, they will learn a lot from your video training, demand more and eventually they will want your complete soup to nuts training. It is working so well with your organization, and because you are an entrepreneur, you will package it, create an affiliate system and offer it to the world. That is what you are seeing.

Now what do you spend money on? My criteria was fairly simple both for lead generation system and companies. Are there people who have, by using the system or working with that company, been able to go from broke and desperate to rich and happy within a reasonable time frame?

Although the time to do the research was longer, the decision became easy to make. How many previous poor people are creating significant income and what did they have to do to get there? Am I willing to step out of my comfort zone and do what they are doing?

People may "fake it till they make it" but numbers never lie. Do your research. Go with the numbers and I'll look forward to seeing your first ebook !

Onwards,
Joyce

Thanks to everyone for their responses! The amount of information and training available is overwhelming. Going through it all and finding what works for you takes some time. But I have to say, I'm enjoying this learning process. I find I look forward to spending a couple hours a day reading and researching.

Kind of like the gold rushes of the past; you can be a miner or sell the tools to be a miner! I hear you, and I am a newbie myself--been at this about a year and a half. To be totally honest, I'm still sifting through the different 'leaders' points of view but I will say this, like you I have benefited from the free material & teaching that I've read. All of it has helped me to put my business in perspective and focus on promoting my brand in a professional manner--like the big boys do. Ultimately, if you have a strong game plan then the true leader or guru is...you! :D
