I can say from personal experience, right away spouting off what you know, can come off wrong. its really important to realize you have to learn first. Its called paying your dues.
During that process you also want to publish your own content and get very social. Participate everywhere that you can.
It may appear that I am new here, but I have also been very active in Social Network for nearly 2 years. For grins google my name!
I only said that because you will see pages and pages of value-based content. Its a process.

Yes, it really takes time. Nothing overnight but it pays off eventually.
Who else is sick of chasing down prospects and harassing relatives?

Re: How Does A "Newbie" Establish Their Authority?
i think it's pretty easy...all a newbie has to do is get good at one thing that corresponds with being successful.
To get good at that one thing, just read 5 books on the subject and you'll be ahead of everyone else wanting to learn about it....but also to get great by experience as well.
So if you want to be the authority on video marketing, then learn all you can about it and implement what you learn, get some results and now your the authority of the person who finds you and wants to learn about it.
Huge part of it I would say is mindset as well... Daegan Smith once told Jonathan Budd that "you are a leader when you say you are a leader".
and he explains that one little sentence helped him change his life ... now we all know where Jonathan is now in terms of success.

With your experience you have a tremendous opportunity here to not only establish your authority but also to teach others how to do social marketing for profit. A lot of people have been taught all they need to do is make a lot of friends and the money will just flow. But someone with your experience knows that isn't true and it will be nice to have a voice that speaks with authority and experience to guide people to a profit situation using social marketing methods.
Welcome aboard,

He does exactly what the experts teach him right away so that he gets prospects in the funnel and customers on his companys home delievery program. When he does it immediately then people see him as someone who is on the ball with correct action.
One must go into a business that way or else it will be a bigger challenge for them to succeed later on in the game.

Do you think they only need to read about it, or do they need some guidance?

Re: How Does A "Newbie" Establish Their Authority?
All newbies can use some guidance, but guidance and too much info can lead to overload and paralysis. What a newbie needs to be doing is following the K.I.S.S. formula and begin taking action somewhere in their business and getting their feet wet. They need a certain level of 'Learn knowledge" and then "Activity Knowledge'.
We tend to learn better when we are in the act of doing. Until you are taking action your knowledge is just theory. Knowledge without action is fantasy.

Re: How Does A "Newbie" Establish Their Authority?
We all had to start somewhere. If you are new, say so. Learn from that experience and move on.
I try to honest with people and tell the truth.
They will know of your experience just be listening to you and your knowledge on your subject.
Honesty is the best way to go. People will believe in that truthfulness in you and will trust you more.
"Faking it until you make it" doesn't always work anymore.
If you are just starting out in a new business, you will not be making a lot of money. When asked about the income, say so. You are just starting in this new business. Be honest.
