Any former EXCEL rep's out there?

Postby Shandrie Lewis on Wed Aug 24, 2011 10:22 am

Hey there,
Does anyone out there remember the company called Excel? It was around in the 90's and was a telecom company. If there is anyone out there who use to promote it, please let me know! I am interested in comparing notes.
Thanks!

When I was with Excel long time ago, I did phone service right after AT&T split. There were so many phone services to switch from constantly. I thought they all went under with the advent of the popular cell phones!

In 2003 I got in but never worked it much I did not have much team support so I worked my other company where I had great support.

At least that was true of the Excel team I worked with.

Yeah, that's the challenge with 'technology' MLM companies. Their products may seem cool now, but new technology can quickly make them obsolete.

And you're not just competing with other MLM companies, but the whole Technology products/services market.

A case in point from a few years ago was a MLM company that offered VOIP service. When it was new, it was novel. Now, the market is saturated, and newer technologies have emerged.

Hi Dan, I totally agree about marketing yourself first. People join people, not a business opportunity.

Then if your MLM company closes, you still have your relationships intact, so that you can transition to another company, and potentially draw them with you.

In Excel the people there were relationship driven and therefore when a dowline was already built in that company and the organization went bankrupt then the members followed their leaders whom they were sponsored by ONLY because of the relationships that went on. And they knew, liked and trusted each other. If one of those 3 things were missing they would have given up on each other BEFORE Excel went bankrupt.

EXCEL's success had little to do with downline and associate relationships. The product was so great that you didn't even need associates in your business. It was a long distance card that you can use at any payphone and with a low monthly fee, it was a dime a minute. It was easy to use, easy to explain, and easy to sell. People liked the ease of being able to make a call without having to carry around a bunch of change or trying to go around looking to get change for a dollar.

Relationships didn't matter and the bankruptcy was done so that VarTec Communications, who bought out EXCEL, could dissolve the MLM portion of it because it simply wasn't needed at that point. EXCEL is still around but with the change of times and technology, there's just no need for associates.

My company is filled with former EXCEL millionaires and from what I heard the company had its momentum during that deregulation period, which was HUGE. There are Telecom companies like I am apart of that stay on the cutting edge and Partner with the latest technology companies.

I would not say Telecom companies or Tech companies are hard to market because like someone else said its preference and really you should not be marketing the product but yourself. So its not HARD, you just lack the necessary Skill.

Anyone can say that a Fitness product is not a necessity, Or a juice or drink would be the first thing someone drops, but its really the Team environment and belonging to something Bigger that drives us all. Its truly all about relationships and one company is NOT better than the other. Its with whom you choose to build your relationships.

Excel was tremendous from what I heard and many companies are on that same trek today. Just stick and stay until you get your Pay.. Never Quit.
