This could prove to be a great discussion! I had someone accuse me of spamming her group wall because I posted my blog. I thought I was offering value. Now this is a question do you think there is ever a time when a blog is considered spam? I don't think so but it is also important to honor the rules of a group. If they specifically say not to post any links period then that would be a time when if you did you could be accused of spamming.

Well If your blog content /link is providing value then you can always take permission of group owner/moderator..

this is very important topic because many people did not know this thing that blogs and signature or bio links are not spam. but they banned our profile.
if any body said it spammer give us prove.

Hi Lynda,
I feel it comes down to social etiquette,if you are a member of the
group and you have been posting in this group,then it could be acceptable.
However if the post was out of the blue and they do not know who you are
then it could be construed to be spam.
What is your viewpoint?

Actually i always try to give value. And yes I was already an invited member of the group and had been participating in the group. I did notice then that the majority of the posts were by the owner, so therefore I got the impression that the only links allowed were hers. That is too bad because we can make good people go away. i left the group rather than argue with her.

Great topic!

I assume you are talking about FB here. A few months back I was confronted with the same issue. I wasn't sure whether or not I could share my blog posts in the various groups I belonged to. So, I just asked the owners...

Here's what I got ... If it is an "open" group and you are sharing value then it is okay.

It is very different with Facebook Pages. Often the owner is the only one who can share posts. Unless, it is specifically stated.

So if you're not sure (and this goes for both groups and FB pages) if you only see posts by the owner than you better not share anything of your own

That is what I thought too. I decided to not make it confrontational. I think sometimes when we create groups we want to control it and keep it meaningful, but sometimes we can go way too much the other way and control too much. In my groups before I make a judgement, I go and check out where the link goes and if it is promotion of a product and I can't see a benefit I message privately. No one likes to be called down in public.

I totally agree with you. Keeping groups meaningful and on topic is one thing, but totally controlling the environment is another. Besides, there were times when I found great value in other people's "promotions." If the (promotional) blog post still provides exceptional value whether you buy what is featured or not, then I really don't see any harm in it.

What a great Thread you have started & its a question I have raised against me on occassions.

There are some great replies here as well & This is my take On it... You have to remember that a great Many Internet Marketers, Term Themselves Internet Marketers, but have never been shown How To Network Correctly, Or What to Identify as value, simply because they have never been taught, or are members of BN & So they accuse you Of Spamming. I had a case a few years ago, when one of my assocuates asked me to host a Conference call, which I did at mt expense, gave tons of tips & value, only to be told at tthe end of the call, I had pitched everyone of her team!!

However, if the Blog is generic & provides information then it can only be seen as being of value. Effectively a Blog, correctly written is No Different to the daily paper & No One complains about that.

So the Short answer is this ~ as long as it is Information based, then its not Spam
