What's keeping you where you are?

Postby Joyce Penner on Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:15 am

I'm writing to the 97% of marketers who aren't making money yet.

What's keeping you where you are?

You love your products/company/upline?

You are the reason you are not successful? You haven't done enough personal development? You haven't found the "key" to marketing?

Are there normal, every day folks who ARE making money in your company? Are you prepared to do what they do? If not? Then what? Do you then continue to do what you've always done and expect different results?

What's keeping you where you are?

Someone said to me "my wife" and then he laughed.

I wonder if he was telling the truth?

I have been pondering this question for some time.
"Life" is keeping me where I am. When somebody feels that you are doing something other than your job, it seems that they will keep you busy. Then there is time with your family. That is most important to spend with them and just enjoy life and everything it has to offer. Weekends are abound and already scheduled to be out doing something. Your family needs you in the present now.
I have to realize what is important. When we are working, we were working all the time and no time for personal life. I refuse to do that again. I do not want to miss out on life.
I know starting a new business is important and I like doing this, but it has to take the back seat to my life.
While I am out with family and friends I am promoting my business and making friends who now knows me and would refer to me when needed. I am still working all the time. When someone asks what I am doing, I can truly tell them that I am in a business for myself and doing great! I can help them to go into a business and be just as successful! Isn't "Life" great!

Joyce,

I would say people are where they are, unwilling to make a move, because of "hope." Don't get me wrong, hope is important, but it's just about the weakest position one could be in. Most 97%'er stay put because they "know" what they've got and making a move would require that they let go to "swing on the next rope." We humans don't let go so easily even if what we've got is detrimental, non-productive and uninspiring.

When someone feels the pain of staying put as greater than staying put they will make a move. No one wants to be in pain. That's what happened to me. The pain of sticking around with mere hope that beating the dead horse would cause it all of a sudden to come alive was greater than moving along. I knew I was in pain but would not admit it to myself. I was torn between the promise and admitting the lie. When I applied solid business principles to it all (like more was going out than coming in), the scales tipped and I was free to move on.

Our job is to each share our messages, no matter how divergent they may be, with those in pain, those willing to listen, absorb and act.

I agree with you Rick. I like Jim Rohn's philosophy - do it until but before you adopt that philosophy you MUST know you have got the business game plan in place. Otherwise you're on the hamster wheel of frustration, living on hope, and getting nowhere.

Joyce,
Maybe I have not found the 'key' to big marketing. The keys that I do have are doing quite well and I am able to enjoy life better than ever. Nothing is keeping me where I am.

The biggest problem i had in the beginning was staying
focus on one task.

With the internet it is so easy to have A.D.D and thats
the problem i had was jumping from one thing to another.

Hi Anthony. Did you not have a one upline that kept you focused and on task?
And if not, how come?

Personally, I would have to say it's due to a flurry of emotions. I know what I need to do... it's just a matter of convincing my heart to act on what my head is telling me.

I believe in the industry and I believe in the product... maybe I need to believe more in myself?

That is a tough one isn't it? I struggled with that for years. Gaining lots of knowledge, playing at network marketing. What happened to me was I realized I was so far off focus promoting affiliate programs that I'd left my network marketing business way on the back burner.

Took meeting the right people who believed in MLM, had the technical skills to share with me, gave me the right tools and then I was refocused and moving ahead. It's a tough time, hang in there!
