The list lol funny how so many talk about the list. When you first starting out in Network Marketing the last thing you need to be thinking about is building a list! If your brand new to online marketing, you have no clue where to start. Your mind is racing. People are saying you need a domain? Capture pages, Blogs and a auto responders.

We all have been through it and if your a newbie then listen carefully. First you need a good product second you need great leadership. With out those two things your doomed for failure!

Next is you need a system that is for the masses. Something that will allow most everyone to duplicate. Creating Blogs, Websites, Captures Pages, Squeeze Pages and Auto Responders is not gonna give you instant success! Those things are learned over time

Here is the key! The only way any business is going to be successful is if that business is showing others about what they do! Wouldn't you agree? If your not talking with 5 people a day about your business then your gonna fail. So why don't you learn how to talk to the 850,000,000 people on Facbook? That is a MASSIVE LIST of people just sitting and waiting for you to approach them.

Whats stopping you from talking with them? Why don't you go right after the prospect directly? The long process is very difficult and time consuming. Even if you do get them on your list..the penetration rate of emails is rapidly declining less than 2 percent! With Social Media giving you over 1.3 Billion users between Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn why even bother creating all those other time consuming activities?

I appreciate your energy and dedication, but talking about taking on nearly 1 Billion people by walking up to them, inviting them to friend you and then pitch them is a horrible idea!

There's a reason why Marketing is in the phrase Network Marketing. And while we might be in the same company, its clear there is a miss in proper education.

Its clear, that if you are serving hamburgers to a group of vegetarians, you're going to go out of business.

The point to maketing is to have a message and give it to those who would be most interested and likely to take the offer.

This is a key point that just walking up to people, farming your random warm market, and the 3 foot rule is proving to be more of an obstacle than ever before.

The purpose for individuals on Facebook is relationships. The purpose of business on Facebook is Ads, Marketing, and Social Exposure. Most if not ALL of business on Facebook is built on targeting.

Its there to work with you, you should use it.

Also, last note... its very easy to create a capture page. And building a list for yourself is only part of the game.

The real part is them entering the funnel, where the opportunity is there to sell your product.

That way the same message is shared every time.

Thats just smart. Not complicated at all.

I agree network marketing is about the relationships. It's all about how you approach people, what you say to them and how you ask the questions! SIMPLE MY FRIEND.....

We are talking about taking normal people out of their 9-5 jobs giving them a tool they
are familiar with and teaching them how to attract others with it. In most cases, these people need to get instant results....Yeah you might think its easy creating capture pages and websites and getting those sites visible on Page #1 of GOOGLE, YEA RIGHT!

Guess what the NEWBIE can't grasp it fast enough....this is why 95% of them fail

As far as the FUNNEL goes.....simple talk to 5-10 people a day. Show your presentation 3-5 times a day and you know what happens next Derrick

Welcome to BN but please read the rules on this board. Secondly, while there is a lot of people on Facebook, spamming your business opportunity to everyone will cost you your reputation along with your Facebook account as they are cracking down on that very heavily.

I'm not sure how long you've been in network marketing but its best not to chase every tail in the industry. BTW, blogs, websites, and capture pages still work and cost nothing to maintain once they are set up.

Your right, I don't want to talk with just anyone...Facebook lets me target market based of "KEYWORDS"
just like any other Search Engine.

If you set up your Facebook profile correct and make the right posts the CURIOSITY sets in and people
come out of the wood works to ask you what your doing.

I say the words FACEBOOK and everyone comes at me like I am SPAMMING...not even close.

I just spent a couple of minutes on your Facebook site. There is nothing spammy there at all. As a matter of fact your profile is extremely up beat and positive with a touch of "what's he talking about here?" thrown in. You've branded yourself as the BowTieGuy which people will remember. Bow ties are not the norm. Excellent!

When I first saw your post I thought this guy is nuts. Of course you need a list. But, it's actually just the manner in which you are growing your list is a bit different. For those who don't sign up with you immediately, you put them on an autoresponder or some other form of follow up, right? You don't just let them go do you? They go on some sort of list?

And, I didn't see where you were breaking any rules on this site. Not sure what Goodrum was referring to.

Rick...really appreciate the kind comments...when the person accepts your request...they now are on your list. It's only a matter of time before they send you a message. The posts you make daily will draw them to take action...LIKE COMMENT SHARE or even ask you "WHAT DO YOU DO? It's what you say and do from there that makes the difference.

Either your just like all the other marketers SPAMMING or your a real true professional ask questions seeing if there is a problem. If you can determine you have the solution and they are open, then you show them your opportunity....simple simple simple. In most cases when the person see's your genuine, they give emails, phones numbers and anything else you ask them to do. It's up to you what you do with the information. Me I would rather have their cell phone number than their email in my autoresponder.

I would rather talk to the person directly instead of talking to them through my email, although once you talk in person the email communication is much more affective!

If there is an effective way to do this without coming across as spammy, I think it would be cool, cause all this friend request and relationship building is very time consuming.

Also, no soon as I accept a friend request I gets all these B.S. post in my FB feed.

I have pretty much stopped accepting request anymore.

I was referring to your on-text links which are not allowed. The moderators already removed one from another post that you had written.

Perhaps you think that what you're doing is not spamming but in fact it is and its not because you mentioned Facebook but its because Facebook last year specifically prohibited using their platform for this type of marketing without paying for their business services.


I've been in network marketing for 19 years and I've seen things come and go. Just because something is all nice and shiny doesn't mean you dump everything. Other than mail order advertising which was mandatory in the pre-internet days, I'm still using every marketing technique I've learned over the years and it still works. Just because its old doesn't mean its obsolete


Feel free to market the way you choose as you don't have to take my advice or anyone else's.

Melvin, didn't see the links you said were remove.

I'm not clear here. I went to Eryn's page on Facebook and didn't see anything I though was spammy. I think he's generating curiosity by who he is being on his profile. Take a look and come back to this discussion. Let me know if I missed something. OK?
