To create a plan - work backwards.
Example: I want to be (here - $$) by (then).
Divide the (here - $$) by (then) and that tells you how many dollars you need to generate each month. i.e. You want to be making $60,000 a year in 12 months = $5,000 per month each and every month.
Create your marketing strategy based on those numbers. What am I doing currently to put my MLM in front of enough people to generate that kind of income? KEY - your marketing plan must be focused on selling or introducing your product/company/opportunity for you or anyone else on your team to be making money.
Work your plan for 90 days (industry standard) and WORK it - don't quit. Then reassess whether your current methods are creating the results you've planned for. If not - change it ! If yes - do more of the same !
Pin the upside down plan on your bulletin point or somewhere where you can see it every day and stay focused. Do nothing that doesn't enhance your plan.
That's when you will see, feel and taste success !

I have to thank Frank Kerns for this. Last year Frank Kerns had a booklet come out which he had not yet named.
It was 11 x 8 1/2, black and white booklet with a big ? on it. I paid $7 for it.
As I was reading through it Frank began talking along the lines of breaking things down into little bites or chunks so to speak.
Up til then I was always saying I want to make X amount of dollars per year, and it was a large number, but in my mind it seemed impossible that I could ever reach that financial goal.
After reading the book, I started breaking that amount of money down by the month, then by the day, by the hour and ultimately I broke it down to how many products at a certain amount I needed to sell per day.
So for example at $45,000 a year, I need to earn $3750 per month, $870 per week, $124 per day, $5.14 per hour in a 24 hour day.
If I could sell a couple of $97 products per day I would be able to do it,
Sell 2 $67 products per day would do it.
Sell 3-4 @$37 a day would do it.
Sell 17-18 @7 a day would do it.
I just kept breaking it down, it seemed to make it more believe-able that I could achieve my financial goals when broken down in this way.

Willie, I agree with both you and Frank. Come to think of it maybe it was Frank that first put the idea into my head.
He's right though - you need a plan - and then you need to focus on it and REASSESS if what you're doing isn't bring you to your target.

I really enjoyed reading the responses to this forum. So many marketers focus on the big goal or picture without breaking it down into smaller elmement. And due to the fact they don't break it down they feel they haven't succeeded and quit. Great insights and reminders. Thanks.

Welcome Margaret. You've certainly come to the right place to learn and explore more avenues of doing a business.
As for me, I have not quit, not at all.
I am really devestated. I thought that I found my target market. The target market I found was not even my own. Now I have to work backwards and find where people are and what are they thinking, and doing with their lives to cope with their personal issues. The target market is how I can help them to achieve their goals.
The people I talk to and meet daily may not be in my target market. They have another agendas in mind. Some come back and talk to me and ask my opinion. At least I am on their minds and can help whenever I can.
Being in front of people daily, reenforces what I have been doing in getting to know more people and who become comfortable being in front of me and would take my suggestions seriously.
There is a saying, 'we come too far to quit and not far enough to stop.'

Its not stupid at all...
Deconstructing a campaign and reverse engineering are the foundation of a solid strategic approach.
Being methodical, as in a game of chess, is seeing whats coming next, looking at the future moves.
Then making forward moves accordingly.
When you look ahead and reverse engineer a project it gives you something to base your next move.
You can identify milestones and segment your campaign. Instead of looking at the end game alone as a potentially daunting task, you now have small incremental movements to make. From one milestone to the next, one mile marker to the next. The big picture wont be as overwhelming now.
If you know that the milestone ahead is achieving a certain rank in your company for instance, dont focus on the rank, focus on the task required today to move you closer to it. How do you know what that task is today? Work backwards. How many sales need to be made, how many new members & customers are needed to create the volume needed? Now break it down to a daily figure setting a start and end point to reach the milestone.
You dont have to think about 3 months from now, just focus on the 10 invitations required today, implement that practice and strive to do it as well as you can every day getting better and better.
Do that without fail and you'll arrive at your destination every time.
