There's more Lynda. If you actually read Magnetic Sponsoring you'll see that "free" content is not what Mike Dillard was talking about at all. People took it to the extreme and missed the point where Mike suggests you sell a low ticket item first to get their contact info, then use your autoresponder to upsell them or hit them periodically with a one time sensitive offer. Mike is a businessman and I too, took the attraction marketing to mean I had to give everything away for free and people would be attracted to my knowledge, wit, sense of humour and maybe just the look on my face.
That's not the point of Attraction Marketing. Never has been, never was. If you follow Mike's guidance, people will be attracted to your business mindset (making money) and will follow the leader who can create wealth for and with them.

Yeah...
I have a few things to add...
It's very HARD to teach "attraction" marketing because you either have "IT" or you don't.
It's not easy to duplicate "attraction" marketing because "most" people will not get on video, build a blog or take the time (years) to learn kick ass copywriting.
And the worst part is...
Some gooroos create the illusion and imply that "attraction" marketing is an answer to network marketing success.
Not only does that CREATE more UNNECESSARY ROADKILL...
It's EXTREMELY FAR FROM THE TRUTH!
Just my .02!

Shells you're awesome!
...Ive watched this vid before.
Lynda, excellent conversation...
Mud on the wall.
Thats what it comes down to - throwing mud on the wall and hoping some sticks.
That's a stark contrast from a methodical strategic marketing approach.
You can be authentic and natural and still be calculated and professional.
You can be the life of the party and still know why you are there.
As for tracking social media, it absolutely can be done.
At a relatively finite level in fact.
The so called problem is it takes that methodical mindset I mentioned.
It takes a little more time, a little more patience and a little more "work."
... a little more than what is being taught or done.
Its just like the backlinks drama...
Some say plaster your links everyone and get as many as you can.
While I say take your time, do it right, develop quality in everything.
One is a Kia, the other a Bentley.
Very different approach to things between the two.
Very different set of principles and standards between the two.
They'll both get you somewhere, but one will get you there in style.

Shelley, I have seen you quite a few times here on betternetworker.
I am sure you are a good marketer but I think some of your statements pertaining to attraction marketing are not true.
One of the main problems in our industry is that PEOPLE HYPE UP THINGS LIKE COPYWRITING AND BLOGGING.
Seriously.
People don't need a blog to succeed.
People don't need copywriting to succeed.
Absolutely NOT.
Those are merely gimmicks.
Now don't misinterpret me.
Copywriting is important but DEFINITELY not as important as many hype it out to be.
In many cases, its downright irritating to read all this emails and blogposts filled with copywriting tricks.
Being genuine and entertaining (along with having a consistent message) is far more important than any kind of copywriting kung fu.
As I already mentioned, learning copywriting can DEFINITELY be advantageous but what people really need is SOLID UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO BUILD THEIR BUSINESS.
I am talking about:
1. Understanding of how to drive traffic and leads (blogging is just one of the various strategies).
2. Understanding of how to write genuine and entertaining emails which sells what they want to sell.
In fact, the more snazzy copywriting tricks you apply, the worse your response gets. True copywriting is all about being genuine (something which almost all of us have but rarely use).
3. Understanding of how to conduct webinars, talk to people over the phone and make them join their business.
This is what is attraction marketing.
Its the ability to sell to your prospects:
1. Yourself
2. Your way of thinking
3. And most importantly, your products.
Online or offline, the core concepts remains the same.
And its absolutely duplicable.

That's the shortest, coolest way to define Attraction Marketing that I've ever seen.
Awesome

Re: Attraction Marketing Misunderstood?
Guys lets be honest.
Mike D. basically invented Attraction Marketing for network marketers through Magnetic Sponsoring, but the most important thing you can learn from Magnetic Sponsoring, isn't how to "attract" people.
I love Magnetic Sponsoring and I actually re-read ever now and then, but the biggest thing you need to take away from that book is how to create an army of people selling your stuff.
That's really what Mike D did.
Every single word inside it is designed to make you sell the book, instead of your network marketing company and be proud to do it.
Magnetic Sponsoring is a sales letter. One of the best sales letters ever written in our industry.
It worked.
He created an Army of people promoting him and he was kind enough to pay everyone half of the commissions to do so hahah.
The book itself still helps people. I still enjoy it, I still promote it and there's a ton of value you in it, but it's a sales letter.
For example: He talks about the fact that people don't want a drill, what they really want is a hole. (ahh the famous drill story). In our industry, your network marketing company is the "drill". Nobody wants that right? They want the drill. What are the odds? You're reading MS right now and it's a drill! Sell this.
He then says you need autoresponders, but not very many people can write their own sales copy to start. "Well what are the odds, if you promote Magnetic Sponsoring, I'll write the emails for you!", he says.
Brilliant stuff. Comb through it like you would through a sales letter that you're studying (yes I study sales copy relentlessly. I don't buy sales copy courses, but I will study the sales copy used to sell sales copy courses). If you study the book that way, you'll learn sooo much.
As far as attraction marketing is concerned, yeah it's really about not making yourself look stupid. It's about not being like a used car salesman. It's about not begging people to join. But straight up selling a network marketing company is not a bad thing. You don't need to trick people into buying other stuff first. I personally do believe in multiple streams of income though.

I like the way you word this Landon. It's really about not making yourself look stupid. That's it in a nutshell.
I think it was Mark Hoverson that said: Being a good person is not enough.

Pretty cool when a discussion takes off on its own! And like Richard said:
I was definitely being strategic in posting this because I know there are a lot of people that want to understand it and I knew the leaders would step up and bring it here!
I believe when you truly get in touch with yourself what makes you unique you can bring that into the mix and still have a plan, still create what you want.
And Jagan put it simply and beautifully:
It is definitely worth taking the time to learn.
