Customer Service is Key To Online Success

Do you agree or disagree?

I rencently posted a blog post on customer service - http://www.empowernetwork.com/cmorris/blog/customer-service-are-you-providing-value/?id=cmorris and then thought about examples of where customer service is widely recognised.

For instance in restuarants you get great customer service, mainly because the waiters and waitresses rely on tips, therefore they tend to ensure everthing is OK and that you have enjoyed your experience.

My question is, do we do enough to ensure the same in online marketing?

Hi Colette,
What do you emphasize most in building your online/offline business?
Do you promote product or service? Are you just after the sale and closing the deal?
In doing any style of business, customer service is key. Usually your friendship goes a long way in keeping that relationship and keeping your customers happy.
I have introduced products to my warm market. Others have done the same within my warm market. The customers report back to me and said they rather stay with me because they know me better.
When you build a relationship within your business, you do tend to keep your customers longer because of that friendship.
We not only promote a product, we also promote friendship as part of our customer service.

We in online marketing need to get back to the SERVE in customer service.

Since there are so many different types of online businesses, I think the key concept is to focus on and please human visitors. Looking for the sale, going for the money or focusing on search engines for traffic is the wrong focus and will drive visitors away. Visitors know the difference and respond positively to those who have their best interests at heart. Incidentally, putting the right focus first, increases sales and improves search engine rankings too.

I agree with you. I think do well in customer service can increase your credit limit, which is important for you to sell your products.

It is possible that customer service can be a key to it.In Norway many business also believe that customer service or kundeservice is a key to their business.

Many entrepreneurs are involved solely in promoting affiliate programs/products so they really don't have to worry about customer service in its normal definition since the company they are promoting usually takes care of all the order fullfilment, payments and customer service. What a lot of affiliate marketers really should do is maintain relationships with the people that buy the affiliate products or join the program they are promoting. You need to get these people, who evidently have similar interest as you, on your personal list of associates whether it is through a newsletter, direct support of their promotional efforts or helping them develop their business online. In the long run these relationships can be very beneficial. When I was involved in MLM over the years I found that many sponsors signed you up and you never heard from them again. That to me is poor customer service!

I have owned my own autoresponder business for over 12 years and have found that customer service is a primary responsibility in order to succeed. If I don't respond to my customers timely and satisfactorily, they will look somewhere else for the service I provide. If you have ever watched the program Restaurant Stakeout where the owner requests help in identifying why they are losing business, they observe the restaurant employees via concealed cameras and microphones. In most cases the business is failing in part because of poor customer service. So it is very important for your success.

I absolutely agree with you colette, that customer service online is imperative and much more so, because online it is so easy to hide behind websites and not bother. But by serving and replying promptly to queries it builds trust quicker.

One of the best ways to do this is by the use of video, as it allows someone to see you, which helps them relate to you

For most products, I would have to agree that you would need to follow up with buyers and ask them if they have any questions and give them the best service ever.

For me, and this is my personal view, if you are building a network marketing team online, there is no need for that and you don't have to follow up with your team to be successful. You just have to focus on getting new people and if they email you with questions and help requests, then you can personally help them out.
