Does this attract you or repel you?

Postby Matt Ferguson on Fri Jul 20, 2012 1:47 pm

What I am talking about here is on Facebook mostly,

I see people in a company (without mentioning the company name), posting pictures and in every single picture no matter what they are doing they are flashing their companies gang sign. Mentioning how their company is the best, come join them, holding up huge cheques etc.

Is this something that attracts you to them and want to join them and see what they are up to? Or does this type of action repel you and annoy you?

What are your thoughts?

Ah, man, soar subject for me. So much so, I had to delete a lot of people off my facebook. Majority Network Marketers and Affiliate marketers.

It's really a turn off because it be nice to see what their customers say about them. It's always them speaking about their company, product or achievement but I never see anyone else, like customers doing the talking.

Plus, if I see value in a person, I can always find out more anyway on their about section. And if I want something I'll either contact them or check their site out first, THEN contact them.

If I want to know on biz, I can always go to their group or page that's seperate but even then, it's still a turn off if they do it.

I get attracted to someone's skill. Like, if they are showcasing their own design, or programming, or like a case study they doing, or updating some blog they are designing, and showing process on the FB notes.

Also, it can be photos of them just doing business, having fun, because I mostly look for reliability, as Facebook is somewhat for me a social tool. But that's me though. I like it to just be a social tool, for networking, getting to know people and it's how I developed my own team and customers but it took sometime to do.

And I didn't have to pitch anything. It can be a great and wonderful experience when using these tools.

Then there are times on Private Messaging.
You get someone who hasn't even bothered for example to get to know you. Then they do these acts. Really makes them look stupid.

They'd pm when I'm on FB and ask a question and I know where it's going...

Then I ask why. Wait for now....

Suddenly it's, 'Well, I teamed up with amazing company...' I'm rolling my eyes at other end with 'here we go again. Dissappointing.

As they bang keyboard about company, awards, best than slice bread, I'm thinking...

'Wow, you didn't even read my profile, see my status, looked at my fanpage or group, to see what I am doing. If you did, you'd know my values, and what I'm doing and how I am not willing to join any opportunity. And find out exactly what I'm looking for. You didn't even get to know me first.'

Some get to know you and then after a bit start reeling you in with same stuff but when you say:

'Nah, not interested. Got my own thing going...,' they disappear for good. Not a word. The pattern of getting to know you has gone.

Other times, the person will pm, say hi. and I reply, 'Hi back.'

Then it's that posture stuff...

"Oh wait, I'm just going....to....make a call." This pisses me off the most. I don't bother replying to pm and usually, or most of the time I just delete that person.

Tricky one this, I feel sometimes when we achieve something that we are really pleased with we want to shout from the rooftops, other times not.
For example my little boy won a trophy and a medal for his swimming achievements last weekend and he was so pleased he took them into school to show his friends! Some may argue this wasn't necessary who cares really there actually is no right or wrong I guess.
Going back to adverts on FB well it may be an idea for those people to use their successes and market their affiliate types of businesses through paid advertising, the photos of the cheques etc could make gr8 banner ads!!
I have to admit I do sometimes feel like a publisher!! and my FB page resembles ad space FREE ad space at that !

I have just left 3-4 groups due to the fact that they are just looking for a quick buck and saying join me every 2 minutes with new posts. You have to take your time to see what they really want but it looks like they are the time wasters in network marketing.

Here's the thing. You can do that EVERY NOW AND THEN, but if you do it on a regular basis, or even worse, constantly, it will repel people. That type of thing really turns me off. Once or twice is more than enough to let people know "hey, here's my company and here's how it can help you". :)
