Does anyone really use their influence for evil?

Every single event I've ever been at one or more of the speakers will tell you they are going to share some incredible info BUT they caution you: Use your influence for good and not evil.

Have you seen anyone use their influence for evil? (please no specific names OK) If they are in it just for the money does it make them evil?
