I have my own wordpress blog hosted on my own domain that I've been posting too since July of last year. When I try to search for the url I have set up for my blog on google, only the index page ever seems to show up in that search engine. Can anyone give me tips as to what I might be missing and why it hasn't been picked up yet? I just added to my blog the feedburner service with a subscription option and the option of pinging the other news readers, feeders what ever they are called. I have put my posts on digg in the past but still don't find them in the search engines. I see that many of my posts here in this forum and in my blog page show up but not my personal blog. What am I missing?

Hi Karen. Welcome to the real world of "Google Almighty".

I have a couple of suggestions that may help.

1. Write some good articles about something you might know; maybe even about what your blog is about. Don't fore get to include a "Bio/Resource at the bottom of the article. Also, sprinkle some "Long Tailed" keywords throughout the articles.
2. Submit your articles to the more popular article hosting sites.
3. Create some videos that relate to you blog. Also, on YouTube for example, include an active hyperlink in the description

It can take a while but google will pick you up.

One other note: Do you have the plugin "Smart Pinger" It only pings your blog when you publish and not every time you edit. That cuts the "Spamming the Blog" syndrome down.

OH Ya. One more thing. Your posts should be related to your blog theme.

OK. One more thing. If you use public articles that you can pick up at any article hosting site make sure you run it thru a "Dupe" checker to make sure it's not plastered all over the internet. Those kind of articles gives Google gas and they will belch out your site and forget it. :dry: Google loves original content.

Hey Karen,

I'm going to try to help. Maybe you're doing some of these things, maybe you aren't.

So I'll just throw my ideas out there.

I know you already know to bold certain words in your blog, like MLM, Netowork Marketing, home business, On-line business, etc.

But do you have multiple websites, or membership sites, all with your blog?

Here's an example, blogspot, myspace, facbook, magnetic sponsoring, clubenetwork, etc, etc, etc.

On each one of these websites, after you set up your profile, you have a blog. Then you post the same blog to all the other websites.

Google only recognizes duplicate content on the same website. But you could have 2000
different websites, all with the same blog content on each of them.

I have a lot more techniques i'm using, but i'm not sure where your problem is.

P.S. I googled your name, and you're all over the 1st page of google. So at least that should make you happy.

There are actually 164 results for hb4u.com and only 4 results for www.hb4u.com .

Note: www.domain.com and domain.com are not the same in the serps.

That's interesting. What does that mean though or what do I do with that kind of information www vs not using www, hmmmm

And see, I just did a google again without the www to see for myself and this convo here shows up on page 2 of google yet I can't find the majority of my blog posts on my own domain there. I wonder if it's got anything to do with the fact that it's hosted through my webhosting company. I think I'm just might ask them the same questions.

Do you think people will find their way to your site by searching for "hb4u" or "mlm industry news"?

Google is indexing your site.

If I google "mlm industry news", your site is listed in the #8 spot.

However, if I google "Childhood obesity" (which seems to be what your blog is about), I can't find it at all.

Using google, I notice that you're not using any anchor text when you post your links.

Instead of, "You can find me here www.hb4u.com". You should be writing, "You can find me at Childhood Obesity Information

Really think about what you want from the serps. Do you want visitors looking for mlm info or childhood obesity, or.....?

As far as the www vs non www, your site already has a redirect in place. Both the www and non-www are redirecting to blog.hb4u.com .

Hmmm, I guess there's much more to blogging than I realized. But it still is a little confusing for me because I thought that my pages would be picked up no matter what they were about as long as I had enough info on that subject on my page. In other words, I want to write about health mostly but when I come across something about building an mlm business, I want to write about that too and hope that either will be indexed.

You see, I started a blog on blogger a long time ago but have basically abandoned it but when I was posting on no specific subject, it got picked up for what ever I was posting about there as well. Sooo, am I understanding then that "what's missing" for me then is the anchor text? That's easy to fix.

I think this is more over my head than I realized. I thought everyone just posted blogs about what ever subject they were posting on and that was it. I guess I thought there wasn't much effort to posting blogs and getting indexed. My bad.

One other point Karen. If you post something off topic then you should assign it a category. ie:

Baby Shoes
MLM
Marketing
What Ever


Then your blog doesn't look so scattered.

Also, in the "TAG" line enter related keywords. MLM,marketing,baby shoes,what ever

Try this: in the google search bar enter allinurl:your site or site:your site Then you can find out if your listed in google. I think it works for Yahoo also. You might try it with and without the www. For whatever reason I get a better response without the www.
