Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a blog link exchange? It could be a win - win for everybody.
There could be some requirements or restrictions to be sure that we are giving our readers solid content and good resources, for all our sakes. So, if you are interested, post your blog address requesting that others check it out. If they like it, give them a link and let them know to do the same for you. You post my link and I'll post yours. Thoughts?

Re:Blog Link Exchange
Why not just comment on people's blogs? If you use CommentSniper you can be right at the top of the comment list and this gives you a much better chance of having your link clicked than have your link placed in amongst a whole lot of other links.
Dean's right, unless we are all blogging on the same lines, then I don't see what use the link exchange would be.

Hi Jess,
I'd be happy to exchange blog links with you or anyone else with an interest in some additional exposure. As mentioned in one of the other posts, you could also simply comment. In fact, if you were to comment on the posts on my blog and include your URL, that would be fine and could even put some cash in your pocket.
As far as blogging along the same lines, it's important to consider that blogging is not simply the delivery of a one way message, but rather is a continuing conversation between multiple parties. Sharing your thoughts and insights on a given topic, be it the same or different, will always establish link connectivity between the blog you're posting on and the URL associated with your posting profile. Link connectivity with blogs, because of the content rich nature of blogs, improves search engine page rank for all involved which ultimately leads to increased traffic. This very discussion is the stuff of a great blog post. B) Just my two cents.

Your thoughts are welcome here or on my blog...B)

Re: Blog Link Exchange
Many wordpress blogs have a no-follow snip of code in them that will not allow search engines to follow or link to yours via commenting, therefore making commenting less effective. You still have the physical link there, but no "link juice" from that blog.
There is a download you can get for this which will overcome this "U comment, I Follow" WP plug in here http://www.semiologic.com/software/wp-tweaks/dofollow/
My point in this is saying that link exchanges naturally overcome this obstacle, making them much more effective in ranking your blog in search engines.
Getting lots of one way links is an excellent way to improve your search engine rankings.

Re: Re:Blog Link Exchange
Thank you for starting the thread Jess and I wholeheartedly agree with you Coach Cashflow. I have personally seen blog exchanges (aka "blog buzz threads") work quite well, *if* they are done right.
As others have said, one key is to not just slap a bunch of links on your blogroll (although I have been guilty of that in the past and I learned the hard way it isn't very effective) but instead provide a meaningful, contextual link, using anchor text.
Definition of Terms:
Meaningful - Write something which conveys the value of the blog or blog post to the potential reader. A few sentences, not just, "great post!"
Contextual - If you create a blog post about another member's blog, make the content of your post directly relevant to your exchange partner's blog (or individual blog post). For example, I have a blog about Internet marketing for network marketers.
If my exchange partner wrote, "Mark has a cool blog--check it out" that wouldn't help me nearly as much as, "Mark Worthen's Internet and Network Marketing blog reveals tips, secrets, and cutting-edge strategies for network marketers who want to leverage Internet marketing to build their business." (No, my blog isn't that good yet
)
Anchor Text - In your link to your partner's blog, use their primary keyword phrase or a variant of that keyword phrase. For example, the (pretend) link in the above example uses my primary keyword phrase. It could also have been something like, "Mark's blog teaches network marketers Internet marketing ... "
Another suggestion for a "blog buzz" thread, is to ask each person who posts their blog link to help two other members' blogs--before they make their post. And, the poster should specifiy in his or her post whose blogs they honored.
If we each help out two other members it multiplies and expands the good karma we are generating.
The best link we can give each other is "blog post to blog (or blog post)." In other words, if I write a blog post, which is meaningful and includes a contextual link, containing anchor text, to your blog, I will almost always be helping you more than if I comment on one of your posts and definitely more than if I just throw your link into my blogroll.
I propose that we each provide at least one blog post to one member and one comment to another member.
How does that sound to you all?
All the Best,
Mark

Hey, great tip Kurt. Thank you.
I think when you are referring to Wordpress blogs that you mean blogs hosted on the Wordpress servers, i.e., a Wordpress.com blog, as opposed to a self-hosted Wordpress.org blog. Is that correct?
All the Best,
Mark
