Craigs List

Postby Bob Harrell on Mon Feb 28, 2011 12:06 pm

Is anyone out there having any luck using Craigs List when trying to get leads for a MLM type company?
I know that you are not allowed to advertise for business opportunities, but you see them there under the Jobs listings all the time. I know that the Trump Network is on there everywhere. If you are having success, what is your secret? I am with Wealth Masters International, and they have legitimate products to sell through direct sales as well as paid tier sales. Every time I post an ad, my account gets flagged.

Bob,

I've used Craigslist with limited success. It generates a nice amount of calls but most people there are looking for a job and not a business. Study what others are writing for their ads, Craigslist actually likes direct selling but they do not like MLM companies. You can also get the information listed and not be flagged by creating an image ad.

There is a major problem with Craigslist that most never paid attention too, if you post an ad on Monday within a few days the ad is off the first page depending on the amount of postings. You can only create another ad every 7 days, so the majority of the time your ad is not being seen.

I would suggest looking into internet marketing, creating a blog with a capture page, PPC would place your information in front of people looking for a business.

Hey Bob,

Craigslist is a dead end. Sure you can get a couple of leads but believe me you will get nowhere. Best if you spend your time on better traffic sources...

Hey Bob,
I actually tried using Craigslist for a couple different types of opportunities.
Opportunities that cost a few hundred dollars to get in don't really work well for Craigslist.
Right now, I promote an opportunity that costs $1 to start. For this type of opportunity, I actually get around 2-4 recruits per day from Craigslist. The attrition rate is a little higher than other forms of advertising, and the quality of people are generally lower, but it's a very duplicatable way to recruit in a lower-tier opportunity (some of my new teammates love to get their first 5 or 10 recruits using Craigslist because it's so easy).
PM me if you need some help.

Rob

Thanks Rob,
I will follow your advice as my opportunity is fairly expensive. I probably need to use PPC rather than Craigs List. Or at least find a different method of advertising.

I found it to be a waste. I had posted a while back on craigslist only to get flagged and eventually banned. I had to create another account so that I could continue to sell household goods on there. I would personally stay away from promoting any business on there.

Start out with Newsletter Solo Ads. Dollar for dollar, they just flat out work better than anything else in my paid advertising arsenal (unless you can master the art of Facebook PPC; in which case you might be able to do a little better).

I have had some success with Craigslist. Actually got my last 2 enrollments through CL. I don't post in the jobs category though as you will get flagged. There is a section under Services for business op ads. I haven't had my ads here flagged.
