Can some internet marketing guru please spell this out for me in layman's terms:

1. Why the heck would I need a facebook page if I already have a website with a suitable landing page? (if it makes any difference, my website also has a facebook "like" button...)

2. Why would I want to confuse potential clients as to whether they should go to my personal website, or a facebook page?

Hmm,

A Facebook page might not be completely without warrant, but if the majority of people on this forum couldn't answer my question since I first posted it, then it strengthens my view that a Facebook page is kinda moot for most business owners who has a proper website.

ok cool. will have to look into it then. just kinda curious as to how it is "easier to build" (guess it depends on the functionality you want for a good lead capturing page). as to getting easier traffic... ok, i guess the next logical question then is "how"?

Here are a few ways to look at it. If you build your fan page where you provide content that inspires interaction it's kinda like having your own forum. Lots of interaction.

It's also a good way to test your content ideas. Besides your own list you can also test your articles through pushing them to the top of everyone's news feed and see the response. You pay for this service through facebook.

You can drive people to your page and within the tabs have your main webpages show up. They would be looking at your webpage within facebook. An additional way to generate traffic. It does not replace your website.

Here's another reason. People are creating success using fan pages in many different fields. So that would mean it can work for you.

The list goes on on the many different reasons. But don't do it if you don't enjoy it.

Everyone has a fb page and a biz page too. More people will find you on fb, than on your personal webpage. I do a lot of biz from fb and you can connect with so many people when you have a Global business.

Linking your webpage to your fb page, is simply a wise idea. Use as many different avenues to get the word out as possible.

alrighty then... having established that, what are all the essential things to look at for a FB page?

i see its possible to do a lot of editing on there, especially if you know which apps to add to your business FB page... (which i don't unfortunately)

so are there any tips out there? is a basic FB page sufficient for your business or not? if not, what do you reccommend we look at?

anyone with some experience can chime in...
