The You Tube Flu has arrived, many casualties!

Postby Paul Murphy on Wed May 13, 2009 2:33 pm

Has anyone had the You Tube Smack Down Blues lately? A good friend and associate was hopping mad yesterday, as several years of work on "The Tube" went down the drain! I'd be mad too, (make sure you back your video's up!) and there's not a damn thing you can do about it, nor will they tell you why you've been deleted, other than a violation of the terms of aggreement.

I suggest you go back and read those terms, and evaluate your content there, to see if your a target for the "Tube Flu" and remove any content that could be deemed problematic.

Also been getting lots of emails promoting a magic fix to the problem, and a webinar call to attend, no doubt another reverse funnel to get your email and information.

Common sense tells us that You Tube is finally enforcing the rules, ruthlessly, but enforcing them none the less. Those of us who are offenders, if you want to keep your site, edit it and do it as quick as possible!

I'd love to get some feedback on this, anyone else have an experience to share?

Paul, I agree with Terry. The webinar tonight will help many people learn how to keep their channels thriving. If you want to know exactly what to do..then just opt in to whomever's page, grab the information and then if you start receiving info via autoresponder messages you don't want, you always maintain the option to unsubscribe.

But to avoid the knowledge to avoid getting emails won't be best in this particular situation...in my opinion!

Later dude!

Isn't flying under the radar what causes all these slap horror stories? When they drop the radar you get burnt.

People who build businesses from the ground up on a solid foundation generally suffer little from these slaps from what I have seen - no?

Could be, I'm curious enough to listen in and find out! Thanks Dean!

They are just going to let us know how not to get our Youtube accounts shut down. Plain and simple.

So the gist of the webinar was to follow the rules, terms and guidelines posted in You Tube, as I figured they are looking for those who are violating their rules, and eliminating them. Some ideas were discussed on how to avoid detection. I'll post the replay link when it becomes available.

Thanks for the comments and feedback, that's what makes the ideas flow!

Hi everyone.

Timely post. I got onto the webinar because I wanted to know what the YouTube slap was all about. I do a fair amout of video marketing but had not seen any impact to my channel. So I was curious.

Turns out that I may not see any fall-out since I dont maintain multiple accounts and I never liked spamming descriptions. I work way to hard on my keyword research. Also, I myself never cared for spam descriptions since they provide very little information and are just flat out annoying.

I learned long ago with google slaps that its just best to run an honest and clean campaign. Call it white hat seo for YouTube but just create good content based video, do you keyword research and throw in a bit of good copywriting for you target keywords and it looks like you will get by ok.

To be honest, if YouTube is going to penalize users that are using the free service to create mulitple accounts and that employ descriptions that are more spam then content...then I've got no issue with the slap. Maybe it is time that they "clean house" just a bit.
