Postby David J on Tue Dec 22, 2009 6:47 pm

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, but have experience in internet marketing! Just wanted to introduce myself, say hi and get to know some of the users on here. Look forward to reading up on all the content, and contributing too.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi David. Well you are certainly in the right place to learn. We are all friends here, and we look out for one another. Please feel free to simply ask your question; you will not be belittled simply because we do not do that here. Whether you are a network-marketing virtuoso or a newcomer such as moi, the only stupid question is the one that you do not ask. As far as a network-marketing company, do as I did: check the company on Google and read the results, especially any information that might lead to knowledge of a scam. I performed this task before I joined my firm. Need any additional help? We are here for you. Have fun.

David, there are thousands of opportunities available but what really makes an opportunity great? It's not the comp plan, nor is it the product, not the management, it's YOU and the team you decide to work with. it's the training that your upline teaches you and the training that you pass on down to your organization. You will get a lot of responses to your headline but if I can offer you one piece of advice, and that is to not jump into the first company that sounds good or pays a 2% difference on level 5. Do your due diligence, use Google to find out if anybody has had problems with the company. Ask if your sponsor or your sponsor's sponsor will be willing to put in the time that you yourself are willing to spend. Good luck and happy hunting.

Vey good advice this - but one caveat! Be circumspect when searching Google & using the word "scam". For example if you are searching to see if a particular company is a scam don't type in "company A scam" because without fail there will be millions of results for that search. To illustrate, I entered the following searches into Google, & got the following results:-

God scam - 6 370 000 results
Jesus scam - 2 750 000 results
MLM scam - 1 880 000 results
Network Marketing scam - 1 180 000 results
Travel scam - 20 200 000 results

I deliberately did not check specific companies as I did not wish to bring any potentially harmful attention to well-known, legitimate companies who may have representation on this forum. But I think you see where I'm going with this.

There are a ton of internet marketers out there who practise what is known as "negative marketing" strategies. They advertise under a specific company as a keyword, use the word scam, then when you pick that up in a search, the website you end up on is their site promoting their company as the best thing since sliced bread!

Rather, just do a search on the company name only, the directors names only and ask about the company on forums like this, where you are more likely to get an honest answer from people with integrity.

Wishing you an inspired & enriching day, Michael

I think I should have clarified one thing in my reply. When using Google to look up a company, always put put scam in parenthesis beside the company name. Remember one thing, there are always people who will downgrade a company even if it is a good company. Another thing I have been taught to do is to go to http://www.whois.net and see who registered the domain and for how long. If it is a start up company and the domain is only registered for one year, the people starting the company may not have much faith in the company.

Hello to all. I would suggest that you join a company- that you are interested in- if they have a free affiliate sign up- and learn what you can about the company - while it does not cost you anything. Then if you like what you here and see- then you can actually join.

With respect to the other posters about " googling" something- remember a lot of the negative remarks are from people that have never made a dime and just have nothing better to do but to put something down.

I always say - " who are you listening to??" I want to listen to people that have what I want and have been where I am.

I wish you the best and also I do agree with building relationships and MLM is a people business. People want to join YOU not the company - so to speak.

Happy Holidays to all and the best to you.
Have a great day!
To Your Success,
Richard P. Belliveau

Wow!

Michael,

Sad to say, but those are some of the most disturbing statistics I have seen in quite a while.

Hi David, Welcome to Betternetworker! You will enjoy this site and gets tons of information. My advice to you is to due your homework when evaluating so called business opportunities. All companies are NOT created the same and it is up to you to learn how to evaluate them for your own best interest. Stay away from get rich quick schemes and "Turn your Computer into an ATM Machine" type offers. Find a real company that is built on integrity and cares for its distributors.
Best Wishes for a bright future.
Best Wishes to My Network Marketing Friends.

Wow those are some real disturbing numbers when it comes to scams.
No wonder a majority of people you speak to are so misinformed.

Donnie: that was a great tid bit on checking WHOIS to see how long the domain is registered.
