Just wanted to say im very glad to be here as a member of BetterNetworker.

So im new to MLM. and I dont know where to start.

Well, you started great mate. You came here and honest. That's a rising leader about to happen. Welcome.

Take your time first. Check out the forum. I'm going to share some advise, tips for you mate. Just take what you can, one step at a time.

1. There are three things you'll need, the basics:

a) Targeted, hungry Prospects. Traffic.
b) Build relationship with the targeted prospects
c) Convert to customers.

But before you start, you need to first establish something which is very important. This is the foundation of what will build your business.

"What is it you want out of the business?"

What is it you want to happen? More sign ups? More sales for your MLM products? More help with cash?

2. You ask what do I need to make this happen = Mentorship, Knowledge, Skill. These will build you, which builds your business and attract those who see you got your act together.

Mentorship because why not learn from someone who has done it already. Can give you ahead start because they got the resources, the system, maybe the education training too. Tap into their mind and experience.

He/she can help you in creating a step by step strategy, help you with the pitfalls, and not make the mistakes many may make online.

Knowledge and skill, because these make you valuable. They help you solve your problem, to create, build, and eliminate fear. Plus, people like to be with one who can help them and lead them. Without knowledge and skill, you're going to be plain and simple stuck.

Those who do not sponsor, who do not know where they are going, who do not increase their sales in MLM products, and anything else is due to lack of knowledge, investment in themselves, skills and mentorship.

3. Together, with your mentor, you will create strategy, a plan of action plan.

Remove doubt, remove lack of clarity by getting the knowledge, skill and mentorship.

4. Now, make a decision and decide what price you are willing to pay for it to happen.

These are the basics but in them are a universal foundation I feel one needs to have. There's more, but I'll keep it short.

Thank you everyone to their replies.
My first problem is I haven't joined a company yet.
I was hoping through here I will be able to find a good company.

My situation is that I am 22 years old, no job, and live with my parents.
Is it logical to be able to get leads and build a list even before I join a company?

I've read Magnetic Sponsoring and Black Belt. This is why I was inspired to join the
MLM business. I really want to help people. I want to be able to educate, inspire, and
motivate people to success. I want to be a great leader that has a great team.

This is why I am here in BetterNetworker because i feel that with the community I
will be able to gain ideas, advice, and support from here. And so far I feel my decision
is correct. Haha

So I guess my question now is, What is the first step to success you have taken?

As Dean mentions - build a list, even if you're not in MLM.

In Magnetic Sponsoring it reveals the points - people are attracted to the person who has the values e.g. the knowledge, the skill, the training for them to go from where they are to where they want to be.

They are attracted to the values that they admire, need in their life. See this as solutions. See this as someone got training they need. See this as "feeling the experience." See it as what your targeted prospects need and that's all they care about.

1. Imagine you are in a job. That company is not yours. It's owned by the founder and CEO's of that company. They can change products, change policies, change how to do business without your say so. It's THEIR company, the boss's company.

Hint - same goes for MLM companies. So you be smart when working in a job.

You build YOUR personal brand by making YOU the most valuable. You have ALL contacts.

2. You find you are very passionate about sports and fitness. And of course, this includes healthy eating, diet, nutrition drinks, nutrition food.

You act smart and think, "Yeah, this is what I am very passinonate about. You know what. I'm going to get more knowledge on this area and be a master at it."

You invest in knowledge, you get the magazine, you get the books, you interview experts in that field, you record their interviews, you have videos of them too.

3. You're become a real student of what you're passionate about...

"I'm going to document my findings, my research, my knowledge and I'm going to not promote the company BECAUSE that company ain't mine. I don't own it. I don't even create the policies.

But what I will do, is create a platform and share knowledge, data, experiement, tests.."

4. You create a blog and you get a domain name with relevant keyword in it, and a name that the niche can identify what it is all about. In fact, you create a headline right across the header of your blog...

And you put a form, an optin form on your blog and you give a free offer that is very valuable to your audience needs. Sharing your research, your knowledge, something you know 100% is what they need. It's not big, it's maybe 10 pages long.

Maybe it's 5 videos of interviews you made, answering 5 valuable questions your prospects needs answers. You get the videos readys. You get the thank you page ready. You get the email confirmation ready.

5. You add valuable content, all from you, and interviews showing how you are solving the problem of the prospects WITH ADDED NOTE you are up front and you say..

"I'll be providing XYZ training," or "membership course in future. This is what all this is going to lead to.."

6. Now, as you write, as you upload videos, as you learn, as you invest in knowledge, the prospects, the traffic comes in seeing you is for real.

They fill in their details.

Month after month, 6 months go by and you've learnt, as you BUILT your list. One year goes buy, and your list has grown.

Two years have gone by, and your list is now 20,000 - 30,000 +.

7. Then your boss comes up to you and says..

"Hey buddy. I don't like you. In fact, you know what? I pay you too much. I'm changing the company policy. I'm stopping the checks. It's MY COMPANY and I CAN do whatever I want! So...YOU'RE FIRED! No more wages, no more commission, no more BONUS CHECKS. Go on. Your FIRED!"

You're laughing. Why?

Because you have built YOUR OWN LIST!

You got 30,000 plus on your list now. It took work. Sweat, learning, making mistakes, testing, and got it good. Even if you had only 100 strong on your list, if 50% buy you made good but you want to really get it tight.

They have followed you.

They loved your passion. Loved the knowledge you gave. Who have admired your investment in magazines, books and your video interviews of experts, and shared your findings, testing etc.

8. One day, you find an MLM company, and it sells something you're interested in. It goes with what you're passionate about and it has products your prospects needs.

You read it's contract, it's policy, compensation plan and check all well.

You now got products that will help your customers. These products are nutrition drinks. Healthy eating stuff. Stuff you've been writing about on your blog.

You also partner with some dudes who got excellent training for health and fitness. They want to because you got 30,000 on your list and it's hot. You also have another system that will help your prospects to get fit.

You say to your list, "People, friends, I'm going to launch a program I said I would a while back. I like to know more of what your needs are.."

Again...you lead with YOU not an MLM company name.

As they leave comments, share what their needs are, you are busy creating the sales page, the program and hooking it with the training, and offer from one of your MLM products.

The prospects on your list trust you. They don't know jack about what MLM company you are in. They don't care. They only care about their needs, soluton, to fix a problem.

They just know you, your knowledge, your expertise, those video interviews, those webinars, that you gave while it built your list.

They only know how you engaged them, asked them questions, answered them in reports and gave that away with an added message that, "I will find the solution.."

They've seen you chatting to them, you've talked to them on the phone, they got to know you real well. Your list is HOT.

9. You got everything ready, you paid the price. You now press that button, and all hell breaks loose and you earn...money.

Then some, they email you and say, "Hey, I want you to mentor me. I don't care what MLM or business you're in. I just want to join you and whatever it is you do!"

You pick up phone and talk or skype. You ask questions, you see he ain't gonna waste your sweet time. You say you're going to send an email which will show overview of biz.

You're not going to pitch because let's face it, "you either get it or you dont. When you finish, call back me. I won't be following you up.."

Conclusion
1. Build your list.
2. Build relationship with your list
3. Convert.
4. No matter what, build it around you, what you're into, your passion, your skills.

Passion that has a profitable market + Traffic + Relationship = Sales.

First and foremost educate yourself. The more you learn about the industry the better off you will be. My husband and I done just that with a very special E-Book and a group of mentors that have been there every step of the way.

Thanks Adam, helps give perspective on what i need to do.
1. Find something that im passionate or interested about.
2. Once i find that, i immerse myself, educate myself on this niche, or even sub-niches.
3. create blogs, ebooks, videos, interviews about this niche to establish myself as an "expert"
4. i offer this information in exchange for their "Name and email"
5. After they opt-in i build my relationship with them. share my thoughts, give them advice, more information, etc.
6. Give them opportunities such as Marketing programs or MLM companies to where they can benefit either with knowledge or with the product. at the same time i make money.
7. Continue to build relationship with list
