What are you tracking

Postby Mark Swierbinski on Sun Jun 20, 2010 5:39 am

In marketing everything is about tracking. I don’t care if it’s widgets to washers. You need to know where your traffic is coming from and what their interested in. You see it all the time now on TV. Companies telling you to go to whatever.com site, do you think it’s about getting you to print out a coupon from there site. No it’s about finding out two things. 1. Is the $ amount their spending on that time slot getting their message across to a stated number of people 2. Is the message important enough (response) to continue advertising that said message in that time slot . That’s it. You even see it in direct mailings, and I even do this as well. Direct to a link on a direct mailing that’s trackable.

Hey Mark

I could not agree with you more. Tracking is so important to success. If your doing a bunch of marketing and that marketing is not producing results, you need to know that. If you don't look at this kind of information, you will be spending a lot of time and effort and money on doing something that is not working.

Tracking is a major piece to marketing, no tracking, you are doing crappy marketing. Period.

I agree that tracking is important.

You didn't mention how you are tracking.

On my blog I'm using Google Analytics for general tracking. For my links I use GoTryThis. It allows me to create trackable links on the fly.

Take care....Tony

Tracking is essential. It is the science of money making in this industry. You save up to allow you to focus on which methods are really making you money.
