@Richard - you are killing it! How do you do it? You have the best graphics of anyone I have seen. I want to be you when I grow up.

So, I just had this conversation with Dean a couple days ago.

Dean didn't even realize he had been highlighted in a BN newsletter, and when I saw it I was like, wow Dean caved and bought the membership!

But no - he didn't- so then I was like- wow, how did he get in? I bought a membership just a couple weeks ago and bam the next day I was sent out to all BN'ers by Jason. Which was pretty cool! And I had always planned on it, just waited until I was ready to start posting new content.

So I tried to forward the e-mail to Dean so he could see it, but it got rejected by the spambots because of all the links. So I called him and tried to get another e-mail addy for him. Spambots ate that one too.

So I wrote to Jason asking if he could re-send the e-mail last week where Dean's real value of BN thread was posted. And Dean thought it would be nice if he was grandfathered in and I said, well you never know until you ask. Just ask him. The worst thing he can say is no. It's obvious he looks kindly and appreciatively on you since you are probably the only person in BN history to be highlighted like this without a paid membership.

I have learned some big lessons lately about the value of just asking. Those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind. And sometimes we assume the answer is no. Sometimes it's yes!

So I vote for DEAN! He has been of tremendous value to each and every one of us on this forum. Thanks Mike and "Jason" for all you do here. I've said it before and I'll say it again-

In my time on BN, I would have to say that Dean has been one of the best influences I've run across on the site.

His posting are among those that I rarely miss and always look forward to reading.

Damn, this pains me to say it but James, that's a pretty cool idea.

Mike, I have no idea how you'd go about implementing something like this and avoiding all the possible outcries of favouritism and marketing hype, as well as the potential backlash of a lot of folks thinking it's about quantity rather than quality...but there's no doubt Dean would win votes of just about every member of BN.

The ABN memberships shows you're a person who can be trusted, that you're one of the 'good guys' out there fighting the baddies. It's a reward for doing all that stuff you don't get paid for. Recognising the folks who do that through their deeds and not just their wallets, is a pretty good move if you ask me.

I like James idea, of rewarding forumites, who help out. Be cool to see what happens. I have a feeling there's some stuff they'll be adding in future at Betternetworker.com as rewards.

Whatever the reason, I'm glad you're on here -

Maybe I just over value my own importance and think people should pay me to belong to groups than the other way around

And, great point - that's the exact posture people should have - why SHOULDN'T you be paid to belong to groups? BIG bang for the buck!
