One of the big breakthroughs I had in Network Marketing was when it realized it wasn’t really a sales business, but a teaching and training one. I attribute a lot of my success because I didn’t look for salespeople, but people with good teaching skills.

Teachers fill one of the most important roles in our world, as they influence the future generations. They share the knowledge of textbooks, and mix in their experience and wisdom.

In our business, the principle is similar, but instead of textbooks, we use the system. We take the things that have been tested and proven in the field, and teach these best practices to the group. This allows each generation to avoid mistakes and reach success faster.

Teaching is one of the most important functions you will do as a leader. So work on your teaching skills today!

No, you're right. As Randy Gage sells you his books, his MLM training packages BUT you do get his newsletter for free !

That's the danger in taking something out of context. Randy is a business man right front and centre and he SELLS his training to help you get started in MLM.

Good for him but don't confuse that with spending hours training someone for absolutely no financial gain on your part.

You make money when you sell.

End of story.

Who am I to go against the great Randy Gage? I agree in one point ... Yes we are teaching those we sponsor how to best do this business with the least amount of pain as we have been there and done it and there's no reason they have to go through the same mistakes. But at the end ... we still sell. We sell ourselves and we sell the products or services of the company we represent. Don't you agree?

That's the cool thing about owning your own business, you get to work with the people who have the same mindset as you do.

I'm very business focused as most people (if not all) are here (online) to make some money to change their lives, save their homes, put their kids through college, create a second income, etc. Agree?

To that end it is my job, my duty, to help as many people as I can make as much money as they want to and teaching them to teach isn't going to do that for a long time.

Randy Gage has been doing this for so long, he can put out a course or sell a book and make instant money. Someone starting can't do that.

They need business training and skills. People don't need to learn how to spend 8 to 10 hours a day volunteering to help people on line. That's not a business mindset. That's volunteering and should be promoted as such.

I'm here to teach you how to help other people teach other people how to teach other people. Ah, forget the money, I just want to help you and maybe you'll like me enough to join me in my business.

Go ahead but be honest with people and tell them that's what you are doing.

I teach, train and mentor those who I coach to be honest, upfront and more importantly to be themselves as they sell their way to solving their problems.

And that is fun!

You got it Ilka and I'm so glad you question what you are reading or being told. To just accept that particular quote as gospel without checking further is business suicide.

We provide value to others in our blogs, videos and posts but the end result - our time - needs to be invested in those who are providing the income to feed our families.

Are we selling or teaching/training, networking? That has been the argument since forever. Call it what you want, in the end, something you have interested the prospect and got them to use your product or service, or join you in business.
