Hi all, until quite recently I used to use 'Jing' quite a lot....mostly just for capturing screenshots and that sort of thing, but since they have 'Improved'? their site I find it a lot more difficult (in fact almost impossible) to use....has anyone on here had the same experience or am I doing something wrong somewhere?
Any comments on this topic would be most appreciated, regards Jim T.

Hi Nemo,
I used to use Jing long ago, mostly for creating screen capture videos.'
If you have a Mac you can simply use command-shift-3 to capture a screen shot and use a 4 to select what you want to capture. I use that feature quite often.
If you have a PC, snagit is what you want.
I left Jing behind. I thought it was clunky. I use screenflow for creating screen capture videos.
So no I don't use Jing, but you want want to try an alternative.

Jim,
Jing is something that I use regularly. In fact most of our team here at BN use it often.
The app that is best for you really depends on a few things....
1. What type of computer you have.
2. What you are wanting to capture.
Do you want to capture an image of a portion of your screen? Do you want capture the whole screen? Do you want to markup that image with notes and arrows for reference? Do you want to capture video and audio from your desktop? Do you want to capture video and audio of yourself? Do you want to be able to do all of the above?
As Betsy mentioned... For simple image capture of the whole screen or just a portion, you can accomplish this easily with built in features on a Mac if that is your platform.
Skitch is a free app for macs that allows you to capture the full screen or just a portion and then mark it up with comments, arrows, etc.
SnagIt does everything mentioned above except allow you to capture video of yourself.
Screenflow (mac only) provides video / audio capture of your desktop and of you, with an editor that allows you to mark up with annotations.
Camtasia does the same as Screenflow but is available for both Mac and PC.
Hopefully that helps. Jing did make a few changes in a recent release that makes the interface feel a little awkward at first but once you get used to it you'll be just fine.
Hopefully that helps a bit.
Cheers,

Re: 'Jing'... Does Anyone On Here Use It?
Thank you both for your input, they were both very much appreciated.
I was actually quite happy with the 'older' version of Jing...but that seems to be a thing of the past now ... just like everything else that I start to get used to...they just seems to just evaporate into thin air...
I will take a look at your suggestions and see which one I reckon would be most suitable for me, thanks again, regards Jim T.

Hi Jim, I use Jing...I haven't experienced any problems with the 'improved' version and I'm on a PC.
I hope you are able to figure it out

I've been using jingproject for over a year or two and never had
any serious problems with it. Jing is not on the same level with
Camastia but its still a good piece of software for me
