Ex con here

Postby bub diango on Sun Jun 17, 2012 9:27 am

I am an ex con - but not that scary, you would see my face on mugshots.com and not be scared like my fellows there. How can I start building a reputation? I know it is going to be hard, but try to shoot me some ideas..

Hello Bub,

Congrats on stepping out on new ground.

The great thing about the internet and network marketing is, it does not discriminate. If you can bring value to the market place, you can and will be rewarded for it.

None of us are perfect beings, I for one have missed it many times, but thanks be to God, he allowed me breath and another day and opportunity to get it right, if I choose to take advantage of it.

As for a building a rep and starting a fresh, look within yourself and see what you can bring to the table to help others.

There are many great MLM companies and affiliate marketing ventures. You just have to do your home work and see what will work best for you.

You can begin by sharing your story of how although you may have missed it, you are willing to try again.

There are people here in this form that offer some great training on marketing and building a home business.

All's you can do is sort of feel your way around. Read some of the post here and you'll get an idea of what may resonate with you.

Believe in yourself, take action and be blessed.

I'd start with a blog and begin sharing my story, that way people can begin to get to k now you. No one needs to know all the details of your past, we all are X something or another. :)

Welcome to the neighborhood Bub...
Here's my thoughts on your question:

1. Reinvent yourself.
Ex-con? OK... but that isn't your future if you choose differently.
We all have challenges from our past to overcome.
The key will be leaving that old life behind, physically, mentally, spiritually and
literally becoming the new person you want to be.

Start right now - today!
Design YOU, then put everything you have in you, all your power, you heart
and your soul into being that person.

2. Get your head right.
Part of the first step was leaving the old life behind mentally.
This is going to be one of the greatest challenges.
You'll remember you past and your mind will try to drag you back into that old reality.
You're mind will be your worst enemy.

Constantly fill your mind and your time with influences that are going to help you build
the character of the person you want to be.

Cultivate the beliefs, the principles, the morals, the ideas and the philosophies of the
person you want to be.

CUT LOOSE anything, everything and everyone that has the slightest possibility of
dragging you back into that old life. Your circle will be one of the most influential
components in whether you fail or succeed at reinventing yourself.

New hangouts
New friends
New habits
New interests
New hobbies
New influences
New thoughts
New beliefs
Cut the old life loose and let it sink away from you as quickly as possible.

3. Be that person.
BELIEVE you are that person.
READ every thing you can get your hands that that person would read.
Conduct yourself the way that person would.
Speak like that person would speak.
Think like that person would think.
Network like that person.
Treat other people like the way that person would.
Work like that person would work.
Eat what that person would eat.
Drink what that person would drink.
Live like that person would live.
Quite literally - BE - that person.

I wont lie to you and tell you it will be easy or quick. It wont.
People will bring it up at some point. You'll be denied and judged because of it.
But if you dig in and change your reality I guarantee, in time, you will absolutely
live that new reality. I guarantee you absolutely can cast down your past and create
a new future that no one will be able to take away from you.

My last bit of advice... get to know God.
Im not even going to attempt to preach at you.
Just find a time when you're ready and say hi.
He'll welcome you with open arms and will not judge.
Let Him help you through that laundry list of work you have ahead of you.
He wont do it for you but he will help guide you.

~ Be Strong ~

ditto on the all that has been stated.

Keith McEachern was a man who built his network marketing company from prison. He was there for two years.

Here's a link to an article about his story. http://www.scribd.com/doc/14966342/Than ... -McEachern.

It truly is inspirational and I think it will give you a new way to believe in yourself and that you do not have to be your past.

The internet is an equalizer. First do post a picture not of a mug shot but a nice smiling picture. You already did one thing good! I see so many that right away think they have to posture as an expert. But.. it is alright to ask questions to get feed back, and this community is awesome at giving great advice!

I spent my first year reading and watching and asking questions, before I ventured to start showing that I believed I had something to share. It might happen faster, but the major thing is not to pose as something you are not. Be honest, share good value, and you will learn a lot here!

I can relate to your situation. I too have a conviction for something someone else involoved me in a scam. My mistake was not reporting what happened but that is what happens when you chase money and doing things in a non-ethical way. People have a connotation about you that you are trouble. You cant get a high paying job, or do anything successful in life. I accept these challenges because they do not define me. I recommend following the same advice that was given in the previous post.
But here are some of the things that I am doing.
1. Your failures are your success. People around the world are going through similar trials and are waiting on you to let them know how you overcame

2. Find out your purpose and how you want to help others. I look at the traits and qualities I posses and use that to help people through my business.

3. Start or join a business/network marketing opportunity. It allows you the freedom to gain significant income, share your story, and influence people to do more with there lives than where they are currently at.

These are a few examples of things that I am doing. If you would like to share with me your story as well as here mine email me and I will gladly share you my thoughts.

To Your Success

Man, couldn't have said it better than Richard. He covered all bases really well, and yes, having a relationship with God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - the only true living God of the Bible) to get you through not only the though times here, but prepare you for what is to come, and gain eternal happiness and piece, because life here is very short, and so we all must do our best to use our time here wisely. The one thing I forgot to share in my post. That everyone else is posting.
Is to seek God and allow him to define his work through you so that others
see he success he has purposes for you. It is a daily walk but well worth the
impact you will have upon many.

A lot of us have lived less than stellar pasts. I'll tell you what my coach told me, "The past is not the future unless you continue to live there."

However, we can take all the lessons that we learned and use them to help others. Those of us who have made mistakes tend to become forged steel, we're tough and on top of that we have compassion and empathy for what others are going through, making us less judgmental. Use all of that while you are building your business and you will become a leader.

Let me know how it goes. I'll look forward to an update.
