Tackiness 101

Postby Christy Altermatt on Thu Feb 21, 2008 5:23 am

Hi all!

I'm just wondering if this has happened to any other of my YTBer's out there. I just got a very negative message from another travel company regarding YTB. At first, I almost didn't respond because I thought it rather tacky and inappropriate. I responded just now telling her that I'm glad that she found a company that she is happy with but that I would appreciate her not messaging me again with negativity attached about my company.

Has anyone had this happen to them? I mean, I do know that there are several people that try to pitch their business on you around here, but even Mike talks about how crappy it is to be negative on someone elses company. grrrr! I think this person took tackiness 101... sorry, had to get that off my chest!

xoxox all, and good night!

Hi Christy,
It is tacky for people to be that way. I have not had that personally but have prospected someone who had another business. When I learned he was doing something else I tried to help him with info that had helped me. The industry as a whole needs to support each other instead of bad mouthing other companies. It is the only way that the negativity towards "MLM" is going to get better.

Good Luck
Steve

Christy,

Your first feeling was right. The best thing to do is
delete the message, move on and forget about it.

Don't let someone who is negative drag you down.
Stay away from negative people. If a negative
person contacts you, DON"T contact them back, let
it go.

Surround yourself with good positive people.

Paul

Christy,

Keep your posture UP! Anyone that has to slam another company to make themslves feel good and to use it for recruiting is a Neophite!

They are usually untrained, led by zealots and are trying too hard to sell their company. This type of selling activity blows anyone away.

Was this person ever concerned about your needs? NOT!

We are all marketers. Marketing is defined as "The art and science of creating, developing and nurturing relationships based on someone else's needs, not yours or mine!"

He was really nuturing your relationship. Psyche!

About YTB, Everyone wants to shoot at the Big guys! Coke was a big target for Pepsi -(the Challenge). Who is still #1?

Don't argue with them. Try to keep them on the high road.

Stick around and see who has the last laugh!

I'm new in YTB. I had another travel company person contact me (politely) and ask about the IATA licensing issue. Since I had no clue what they were referring to, I googled it. Found out it was accurate and contacted YTB to confirm the information. Unfortunately, YTB did run into IATA credentialing problems and something with Royal Caribbean. Now, how big those problems are may be up for debate, but it gave them an opportunity to point out mine vs there's.

Christy,

This is going to happen in this industry with so many people moving from Business to Business you are bound to run into people who are pitching their products.

What I do is listen and let them know what I am doing, people think they can save you, they believe thier business is the only way when it is not. Everyone has to find what works for them, as long as your happy and working in a Business you love you will succeed.

Stay positive,

I agree!

I think we all trying to do the same thing. If someone in another travel company asks me about mine, I share it with them. If they don't, I don't. I think it is tacky too!

It's like people in this community that call me up and pitch me there deal without even saying hello, how are you, what do you do? (Not to mention I didn't request info from them!)

TACKY.

I end up showing them a better way to sponsor!

it happens.

People will always try to throw dirt on something good, to make it look dirty. negatively will always lurch out of every corner. But undermind it as you did. wuthg ytb and magnetic sponsoring by your side, really nothing else matters...

Ive been in business/MLM for over 2 plus years and prospecting has become second nature to me. I love this industry, however,as independent agents and Reps, you still have to think outside of the box in order to expand raplidly. Fortunately for me, I now generate over 1000 leads daily without lifting a finger. For a limited time, here's some for you at www.gettheseleads.com
