Many newbies ask "how do I sell myself as an expert when I am only new?"

The answer is - you don't have to.  Sell someone else's expertise, there are lots of "experts" wanting to give their advice free of charge.

For those of you new at this game learn from a pro.

For example, a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) wanted a book for her website so she got a number of better networkers to write it for her.

Then she wanted to create a newbies help forum, so she got a number of us to "volunteer" free of charge.

She is a pro at selling other people's expertise to build her name as a brand in the MLM community.  Along the way she has of course learned a lot and can respectfully stand as an expert in her own right now.

But when you are starting out and don't have all the answers don't try and claim you are what you are not.  There is no need, and it may well damage your credibility before you get started.

Instead, brand yourself along side those who are experts.

If Susan can do it, anyone can! (Oops, did I let Susan's name slip?)

Great Advice!

Its awesome to be able to have the support from other like-minded people.  This is great advice to the beginner and such a great way to build trust and respect among your peers in this community. Of you dont have a story, then tell someone elses!   Nothing will destroy your credibility faster than coming across as somebody you are not.

How about your own experience?

Thanks for the info Dean.

For many of us this is a second job or you may have retired or quit a long standing job. You have experience there.

I have a 4 year degree and almost 30 years of work and leadership experience. I am always looking back to my days of leading in corporate America. There is always something I can use today.

Did you ever get any leadership training? How about sales training? Some may have even gotten a college degree at one point in time. You have experience to relate to and teach to others.

Some may even have more experience than you know. It just needs to come out and be applied to this business.

Nervous Dean?

I love the way Susan has chosen not to dignify your post with a retort. Being an English lady, my guess is she is enjoying plotting her revenge on the Kiwi upstart :-). Great idea though, building ones profile using everyone elses sweat is fabulous if you can pull it off. After all there is rarely anything genuinely new in this world, just re-presentations of what has gone before. _

Haha Russell

Nervous?

What is there to be nervous of?

Just because she works for the government and has my phone number ...

Ok maybe a little   lol.

I'm A Lady?

Thanks Russell. Wonder when HM is gonna call me to the palace?

As for not replying - I've tried several times, but my Internet connection is playing up.

Should you be nervous Dean - heck no. Not as long as I can keep leveraging your expertise that is. Of course, should you decide to withdraw, then I may have to call in other govt. departments with whom I have very strong connections. And might I add, not everyone takes the time to dress up their offers with such skillful copywriting as I try to practise!

The point of it all though is that too often as newbies we get suckered into thinking that we have nothing to offer because we don't have the skills, we don't have the xpertise, we don't have the knowledge. And while waiting to learn all that stuff, we can't make any money, and if we're not making any money, who's going to be interested in what you have to say?

It becomes a vicious circle. And the only way out is by leveraging the power of those who do have that stuff! And it works!

When I came up with the idea of creating The Insider Report, I knew nobody would give a stuff about my own personal experience with Magnetic Sponsoring. It would be seen as another gimmick of someone just wanting to earn commissions by selling the course. When, in actual fact, nothing could have been further from the truth. After getting my hands on MS, I'd realised that focusing on money was the last thing I should be doing!

So I used the 'experts' here to help write it. I used their reputation to build up the value of what it contains.

Same goes with the group. I asked 'the experts' to help out, because I know I don't know enough, especially when it comes to techie stuff, lol. And btw, I've used my skills of persuasion to invite another very qualified individual to join us here at BN. Hopefully, he'll be getting signed up in the next day or so and trust me, he rocks! :) Have to keep it quiet at the moment because I've borrowed him from another forum, hehe!

See, in the end, as with most things, usually it's a case of, "it's not what you know, it's who you know" that matters. If you know the right people, and if you build relationships with them, you can get them to do most anything you want. Because, that's when everyone wins.
