I am posting this under the Newbies section. I know that this really should be an article or a response, but I have a question that needs an answer. I have searched and searched and when I log in and go to User Profile, I have searched and searched and cannot seem to find the link "User Control Panel". I know that you are going to think that I am either a real Air Head, or really stupid, but please help me out here. Thanks in advance for any information that you can give me. Also, can we have a place that is just for questions from Newbies trying to find thier way around the site or that just have simple questions that need answering? What do you think?

User Control Panel

Hi there,

No need to beat yourself up, it happens to all of us. I was trying to follow the tutorial for filling out my signature for the forums and for the life of me I could not find the infamous "User Control Panel" either, it took me a longgggggggggggggggggggggg time to find it. But there it was...

  • Click on the Forums Tab
  • Look on the left, then down
  • You'll see Forums in black
  • Under that you'll see "Board Index" in Blue
  • Then under that will be "User Control Panel" also in Blue

As far as I can tell, that is the only place I have seen the "User Control Panel" link.

Hope this helps, and good luck...

Cookies

If you still can't see it after following Vasca's instructions above you will need to clear the "cookies " on your computer. This is done by going into the Control Panel on your computer and going to Internet Options, General, then delete browsing history. Then when you log into BN Forums it should be there.

User Control Panel

Hi Patricia

The 'user control panel' is not (strange as it may seem) in your user profile. As Vasca has pointed out, it's in the forum part of the site. Once you open the control panel, simply click on to 'profile' and you can add your signature there.

Note that your forum signature does not carry over to your user profile on BN generally. So when posting articles, or blog posts, you will have to input your signature manually.

As for asking questions, this is the place. So ask away. We created this group so the newbies can tell us exactly what they want to know. Everyone is at different levels of experience and knowledge when they come to BN, so it's kind of hard to just put up posts and articles because they may be too basic for some and not basic enough for others.

Never, ever be afraid to ask questions. I assure you nobody is going to think you are an "air head". If you're too shy or too embarassed, PM either myself, Dean, Malika or Cenay (I got them to volunteer their services free of charge to you guys, lol). We will post the replies here for everyone to benefit.

Haha - did I forget to mention that bit? Oops!

Not to worry Dean - you will get your reward in heaven. As well as in the satisfaction of helping all our newbies of course. :)

Wow...Thanks A Million...

Thanks so much...who knew it could be that easy...I never guessed that it would be hiding. I spent hours looking around and thinking that I must really be stupid or something. I feel much better now. Thanks again.

Putting People At Ease...

Thanks Susan, first for the great information, and secondly for putting us all at ease. I am sure that there are more than just me out there that are just a little bit afraid to ask their questions because they feel like they may be looked down upon. I appreciate your words of wisdom, that this is the right place to post and that all questions will be answered for us Newbies. It took me a long time to post because I didn't want to appear "dumb" infront of all of the many knowledgeable people here. I feel right at home now and will continue to "post away". Thanks again.

Patricia learning a new

Patricia learning a new skill is not dumb.   We all started at a point of ignorance once.

You will find that most people in this group if not better networker as a whole actually enjoy the opportunity to help others. If we can help someone it means we must have learnt something along the way ;)

So please do keep asking questions.

All the best,
Dean.

Feeling Comfortable...

Thanks Dean, you and everyone else that has replied to my post has been so kind and helpful. You have put me at ease and made me feel welcomed. I am no longer afraid to post a question, should one arise. This place is the greatest, now I just have to learn how to use it to it's best advantage. Time, everything takes time, and there is never enough time in the day. I always feel like I am falling behind. I make a list every night, for the next morning and then only complete part of the list. So the uncompleted part goes onto the next days list and so it goes. I am rambling so I best shut up now. Thanks again.
