What am I doing wrong?
Group: Better Networker Newbies GuideHello group!
I'm another newbie and wanted to ask some questions so I can get some answers. :)
1) I'm confused. *lol* As a network marketer whom exactly am I supposed to target as my customer/market? Other network marketers? People in businesses like Amway or some such thing? Because if it is other network marketers it seems to me that we're all basically trying to "sell" the same types of products to each other. If it is to those in Amway/Shaklee type businesses how do you get leads so you can introduce them to, say, your affiliate programs to promote their business?
2) I've done free ads, created my capture page, created a biz site, created a blog, been doing the social networking thing and cross-linked where I could (I also own 4 small businesses that have nothing to do with network marketing). I've been reading and studying and doing conference calls (which usually ask for shelling out more $$ for more training products). I've got an AWeber account and am using MLMLead System Pro. Still not one lead for anything!
3) I've checked a lot of the network marketing products (Magnetic Sponsoring, ECC, Building on a Budget, etc.). It seems there are a lot of products to train someone (which is good), but it also seems I could start forking out a lot of cash just to find out I'm basically reading/watching the same set of info presented in different ways.
4) I'm aware of the sales funnel concept. Is my end primary biz supposed to be one of these network marketing products or a product from a biz like Mona Vie (or whatever)? I've not yet gotten into a direct sales MLM. And I know those cost $$ to get into having done Mary Kay long ago.
5) If I continue with my efforts what sort of timeframe am I looking at to bring in any sort of income? Yes, I know it doesn't happen overnight, no matter what anyone says. :)
I'm looking forward to your answers because I could really use the help! I know I can succeed in this, just have to figure out what I'm not doing correctly.
Thanks, in advance,
Daphne

Hi Daphne
Hi Daphne,
I guess the first thing would be a product of your own. Finding out who your target market is. You said that you sold MaryKay Cosmetics. Who was your target market there? It sounds to me like you are doing it right so far. Of course I am a newbie as well and just learning the attraction marketing. But there are so many ways to "Attract" people to you. Having your own product is helpful. You are right though, it's hard to "Sell" to other network marketers. Especially if they already have what you are offering. You have to find a niche' You mentioned that you have 4 other businesses that are not related to network marketing, my suggestion would be to start marketing those businesses online if you haven't already. Put links on your website pointing to a product you are presently marketing only in your "brick and mortar" businesses, That is AssUming that they are indeed brick and mortar.
I hope that this was helpful. You can PM me if you like

I'm a newbie, too. So have reservations with newbie info
A few years ago I completely bombed out in my attempt to succeed on the internet.
Now, several years later, I started with a replicated company that I felt quite emotional about; but I also started with a different mindset. I was not going to buy leads. I was not going to plead to my warm market or go to malls to get leads. There just must be some other way--this internet was such a remarkable thing. Since then I have become convinced that my new attitude was right. The internet marketers that are out there are the ones that really understand internet marketing--I exclude the "opportunity seekers" as having a keen understanding. I am appreciating the concept of attraction marketing. You sell YOURSELF--not a product. You study and make yourself valuable to your contacts. You might call this "social marketing". Why else so many social networking groups out there?
That is my approach now, and I'd be glad to exchange any info if you like.

Yep, Lottie is correct, and shame on me. Having a product is really only 10% of your marketing efforts. I am just learning the mind-set that Lottie's talking about. Thank You Lottie :)

Hi Daphne, One of the first
Hi Daphne,
One of the first things you need to do is come up with a plan.
From all the work you have done you should have been seeing some leads by now. So it sounds to me like you are not focused enough.
I had a look at your blog site and see you recommending a few different products. I think you would be better making the blog more personal and develop a following. Let the viewers click on the product links when they ready to learn more about you, rather trying to sell products by blog posts. It is ok to do a review now and then, but too frequently and it just looks like one big infomercial.
You could make the blog information rich, but unless you know what you are doing that will be both hard work and hard to pull off. Which is why I suggest a more personal casual style.
But first decide what you really want to work on this year and target all your efforts toward building that business. That includes your social site activity. Everything should be focused on the one goal. If you keep dabbling in this and that, and following the latest product launch etc you won't make any money.
Hope that helps. Feel free contact me if you wish.
Dean.
thanks!
for the responses. they're quite helpful! :)

Daphne Dean's right. It

Dean's right. It seems as though you don't yet have any focus to what you're doing. You say you don't have 'one lead for anything'. You should be looking to get leads interested in one thing - you.
If you don't know what sort of person you want to target, then how can you target them? If you're in a network marketing business, then you want to target network marketers. If you're in affiliate marketing, target affiliate marketers. There is no point in trying to sell something to someone who isn't interested.
No matter how you do it, whether with free ads, ppc, social media, blogging... you need to decide what your focus is, then go where those folks hang out and hang out with them.
And yes, a lot of the systems/training courses are giving you the same information. Maybe in different formats, but that's because what works, works. You need to find one that you can easily understand and implement.
One more thing and I think this is something that newbies dont understand. Whatever system you buy into or sign up for, you must follow the system, not just become an affiliate. I've had questions from a lot of people who think that buying Magnetic Sponsoring and then advertising it in the same way they've advertised every other 'system' they've ever bought into, is going to make them rich.
Implementing what is taught is much more likely to give you the results you want, rather than just thinking of it as something to sell on. Yes, some folks make a lot of money just by selling Magnetic Sponsoring, but that's because they've already applied the system it teaches first.
Good Stuff!
Wow! This is all good stuff! It's fun to see things start to come together. It's also encouraging to here the same basic message coming from different people. I , too, am at the threshhold of internet marketing. I'm finding it helpful to stick with one system that is teaching me well. Right now I'm going through the renegade system and the writing with pull classes. Follow the stystem. That's good!
Dean, I like what you said about focusing on one thing this year.
I hope you all have a great year!

I'm getting it now :)
I had a good coaching session with my sponsor last night, and between the posts here and her advice, I think I'm starting to get the picture and head down the right road. *laughs*
Ah, the joys of being a newbie!
Thanks again!

Keep Going Girl !! :)
Hi Daphne,
I love this thread, as so many newbies are afraid to come forward and ask, so good on you for giving them that place ;)
I am with LSPro too, and just wanted to share this, and this is not intended to sound like a sly way of promoting, but what we have here is a system that takes away about 90% of the hard work associated with the old ways of doing things, and educates people already in mlm companies, how to employ attraction marketing strategies, as shown by our beloved Mr Dillard, and friends.
it also provides a cash flow program that allows them to make enough money to survive, and fund marketing campaigns, while learning new skills, and building their list, and long term residual income, from their primary company, and creating long term legacy wealth.
The system you are promoting is designed to provide an all round solution to the problems all MLM'ers or network marketers face, when trying to promote the old way, which the market is immune to now, period.
I never promote my primary company, or business to all, instead, I choose who I sign up, that is not my objective, my purpose is to provide as many people as I can, with the solution to their problems. If people ask me about my primary,of course I will tell them, but only if they ask.
So it is the system not the business or businesses, that you should be promoting, after yourself, of course, this is what you put on the table for your niche market, which, in our case is anyone who owns an mlm business ! Pretty Big for a Niche ;)
REMEMBER
"Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes - NOT information about drills !"
- Perry Marshall
post this quote near your computer, where you can see it every day ;)
So my message is Keep Going, and offer the solution to people ( your mlm leadsystempro, More highly targetted leads, and More money ) rather than try to convince them to join your company, or buy products, on the front end, and read magnetic sponsoring over and over until it becomes part of your mindset :)
I hope this helps, and if you wish you can send me e-mail, and I will try to help all I can - join the community in your back office of lspro, and look me up for a chat, we have a great community over there :)
To Your Amazing Success !
Simon
