Are you Riding in the Fast Lane?
Group: Better Networker ResultsOften times we are too focused on getting where we want to go really quickly. It's not a crime, its just a habit of our society now a days. As I was driving the other day I was getting a little frustrated at what was happening. I was in the left lane (the fast lane) and so were about 80% of the people on the particular road I was driving on. Now the traditional slow lane was pretty empty and moving faster. As I continued to drive in the fast lane, I thought to myself. Everyone wants to get wherever they are going fast, so everyone choses to drive on the fast lane. However you could probably get to where you are going quicker in the slow lane. It is just the mentality that we have now a days. That the left lane is the quickest so we should take it, even though sometimes it winds up being slower.

Now where this relates to network marketing is this. Often times we look to do things as quick as possible in our business that we often wind up doing what others are doing and that ultimately leads to a grinding halt for your business. The main thing that you can do in your business is to be unique. There are so many systems and companies out there that so many people are doing, that they ultimately lose their effectiveness. This is often times called over-saturation.
However that is not the only reason that it is not always good to be in the fast lane. When we look to take the fastest route to online success, we often do things hasty and not well enough. Now even though many do not think this way, this type of business is not meant to be built as quickly as possible. Ideally you build a great organization quickly and have a great team with you, but it is best to take your time to market correctly and attract the right type of people to your business. Most people go out and spam everyone with their business opportunity, and it does work for many. However, they mostly get people who are not the ideal candidates to be in business with.
Why would you want to have a team full of people you had to convince, trick, or pressure to get in business with you? That kind of relationship is not the kind that you would want to have with your friends or family, so why would you want that to be the kind you have with your team.
Although it may take longer to attract people to you and have people build a genuine interest in you and your business, it is definitely worth it in the end. The reason is that these people will be the best type of people to work with. You will find yourself wanting to work with these people, genuinely caring for their well bein and success. As is said a lot in this business, whenever you care more about others people's success, the more that will be given to you.
I hope that this article may have shed some light on taking time to market yourself and your business in the right manner. Quicker is not always better. Remember, when you want to achieve something quick, you will most likely achieve failure.

Hi Alex, about the fast lane
I've tried to move quickly, but have moved forward very steadily and surely...and s l o w l y.
Because I've moved steadily and slowly, I've accumulated a lot of confidence. I can do this network marketing online!
Getting out of the Last Lane!
Hi Alex:
I agree that running ahead of ourselves is a big mistake. I have seen so many people burn out by doing this.
Let's enjoy the ride as we go. Just as when you are driving in a speeding car, you can't appreciate the scenery because you are going too fast. It's the same with our business....we should enjoy the entire process and take the time to build relationships and leadership skills. Without these two things, success will be fleeting.
Let's enjoy the ride!
Life in the Slow Lane
The fast lane is for sales types, I think. The ones who can talk and sell people on new ideas or products and then move on to others. That's only about 15% of the population.
The rest of us will do much better in the slow lane, building relationships, creating mastermind groups, supporting one another on a team. In the slow lane, you get to know people. You help them build to their dreams and they help you. You might find, as I have, that the people you spend time on calls with are just the people you need.
For instance, I was having trouble with some audio files one day. I got onto that evening's mastermind call and was introduced to our newest member, Keith, who is an audio engineer in his day job. After the mastermind call, Keith spent over an hour on the phone with me working out the problems I was having and teaching me about audio. There was no charge.
One evening, I was on a strategy call with my team from the opportunity I work. Someone from the group mentioned that she was unable to get her new web page to work right. I gave her an hour of my time after the strategy call, and we worked out her problems. There was no charge.
If I had been rushing to get to the next person, signup the next distributor, neither of these interactions would have happened. And my life would be the poorer for it. It's always the people that count, and you'll find plenty of time to get to know them in the slow lane.
I vote for the slow lane!
I have seen lots of people burn out because of the speed with which they are expected to get in and grow their businesses. (I have been one of them as well.)
What I prefer these days is working with a group of friends. People who I have gotten to know, like and like me as well. Network Marketing has always promoted this kindof "fastlane" life-style but I am see/hearing more and more networkers who are willing to build over a longer period of time so that they can have strong and stable teams.
Horray for the slow lane!
