Finding Your Marketing Niche

This article is geared more toward the newer marketer mainly because the more avid network marketers have already understood this concept. But in a way I am writing this for myself...

Webster's dictionary provides one definition to a niche:: a place, employment, status, or activity for which a person or thing is best fitted. A marketing niche can be best described as a technique that really is compatible with you (your personality, your experiences, your mindset) let me explain.

I cannot help you find your niche, I can only describe how I came to find mine. (which maybe will help you find yours as well)

When I Was A Noob

I came on online with no real grasp of any concepts regarding network marketing, but then again what noob does? I found myself naturally attracted at the time to a few network marketers I had met on Yuwie and on some online forums. They gave me the basic run down on generating traffic and turning that traffic into $$$. From there I started doing everything the newer market did,

  • clicking, clicking, clicking on traffic sites
  • posting countless ads
  • began to blog
  • basically trying to get my link out to as many faces as possible

As I developed my skills I started to track my progress. Monitoring what worked and what didn't really helped keep me from getting burnt out too much. As I continued and just pushed on day in and day out I finally made it a daily habit to do something online and finally (although I did not know it then) made network marketing a part of my life.

If You Are Ever Going To Find Your Niche...

You need to make all this a daily habit. By "all this" I mean coming on betternetworker, posting your ads, blogging, doing what you do for your business. Once it becomes a daily habit you begin to find what works for you and what doesn't. You begin to find what marketing techniques are compatible with you.

For example, I found that posting ads on classified ad sites made me sick. Despite getting surprising results, I absolutely loathed doing it. It was my main source of sign ups for the small PTC I was promoting at the time but I wasn't having fun. That's what it should be, fun.

Then one day I stumbled on Tech Smith which presented me Jing and Camtasia. Hmm, making videos? I had no experience or even the slightest idea on how to make videos but I fiddled around and began making them. I produced a video on the SpiderWebMarketing System and how it takes advantage of the new marketer (which it did to me). I just talked about my experience and added some pictures and BAM my first video. (check out my first video I made here, man it's weird to look back)

Anyways the next day I had a HUGE response form that video I made. I then went to make another and it just flowed right out of me. I hit the ground running and haven't looked back.

Find Your Niche, Then Break Through

One thing to remember is that discovering your niche is the first step. No one has a single "niche" that they can exploit and explode their business. But being able to recognize a niche when you find one is key. What you need to do now is harness and remember the feelings you had, the response your niche generated and what to look for so that you can pick up new marketing techniques that will also be highly compatible with you.

Now go run and reject those techniques that don't tickle your gut feelings and lift up the ones you find to be your "niches".

Learn to recognize what works for you, what is compatible with you, aka your niche, and your effort will always be used wisely; keeping you from burning

Awesome!

I am very new in network marketing and just beginning to finally understand the magnetic sponsoring concept and how it would apply to my business.  But you did hit it when it came to having fun.  I tried the zillion free ad postings and it was a drag!!!!  However, when I started joining the social networkers and relaxing and having fun things started to happen that were amazing!  I am thrilled to have found this site!

Personal Progress.

I also found out that some things are just not fun. On the other hand to every situation in life we need to do the things we do not like...although we don't find them as fun. Something like learning to eat spinach!!  Now that I have been moved into quite some spheres of NTMarketing I am slowly getting the "feel" of where I would feel good. So, it is time to get the practice in and develop myself until I really feel comfortable. Sometimes I think it will take years, but then it is good to remember it is a learning process and, it seems the same for others as well.

Thanks for sharing your personal progress.

Progress

Thanks Tom. Have read the articles and is food for thought and will need to take more time for them. I must just correct myself, I do not feel I am stuck, or only learning the whole time, I do keep this in a balance as far as possible, what I meant was that it is such an interesting, amazing sphere that it will take years to cover it all. I thank you for offering  help and support. Good to know that others are there to get over some hurdles.

Wish you and your family a blessed Christmas

Greetings from Berlin

Nanette
