Unfortunately not too many people  are happy nowadays..some people tend to wear their emotions on their shoulders...I think that you have to concentrate on the positve until it engulfs all of your negative thoughts.

The reason is very simple...

No one else can make you happy. Happiness must come from within.

Achieving Happiness Is an Inside Job!

About twenty or thirty years ago,  I used to have feelings of serious regret because I felt it my obligation to 'make' other people 'happy' and I just couldn't seem to do it no matter how hard I tried.

One Sunday I visited a worship service presided over by the Reverend Dr Johnnie Coleman in Chicago Illinois, when her Christ Universal Temple was located at 8600 South State Street in Chicago.  On that day and on several other days afterwards when I visited CUT I learned about spiritual and philosophical concepts that wouild have change the way I think and believe about my relationships to God, to Other People, to Myself, and to The Comos.

On that my first visit, or a day soon after, at CUT I heard  the minister say.  "A lot of you people are going around thinking that somebody else is supposed to make you 'happy.'  You've got it all wrong.  It's your job to make yourself happy; and it is other people's jobs to make themselves 'happy."  She made several other statements that day which have woven their way into the warp and woof of my mental fabric; but that statement "tuck, (as the old folks used to say) in my craw."  I stuck and it is still sticking until this day.

I took that statement to heart.  I turned it over and over in my mind, and realized that I had been carrying a heavy load of guilt fealing because I could never quite please significent others in my life; and I had also been expecting from others something that they are not obligated to or even able to do or be, on my behalf.  

I gradually learned that it is my responsibility to learn the real meaning of achieving propriety in thought feeling and action.  I learned that happiness is really a by-product of ones setting and achieving personal goals and unselfishly sharing ones blessings with others, and appreciating the desereved as well as undeserved favors and challenges of existence.  

I guess it in part or even perhaps in whole what Jesus was saying to his Disciples when he said "You must be born again."

I am no longer burdened with thoughts of Someone should or must make me happy or I should or must make someone else happy.  My focus is on being the best person I can be, helping as many others be the best they can be, and enjoying and appreciating the process.  In short........

Question of being happy

I wondered what question you had asked these 4 people, Carleton, and why?

We fortunately do not need to understand people. They also sometimes do not understand us. Everyone needs someone who goes along side.

However, the answer showed a need and if they mentioned this to you, prompted by your question, do you feel you should do something about it by sharing your happiness or giving an advice how to solve the problem?
