What are you health and weight challenges?

Hello and welcome to the HealthyNetworker Group.

Not only do we face the challenges of being networkers (just try to take in all of the advice here at BetterNetworker) but we face the personal challenge of keeping our bodies at peak performance levels.

What health and weight challenges are you facing today.

I know I spend way too much time on the phone and in front of the computer. So, fixing meals to match my needs and planning some physical activity are my greatest tests. My wife and I have pledged to each other that we are NOT going to end up in a rocking chair in some rest home. Nope, not after working so hard to build a business with residual income. We want to enjoy it.

How about you?

Thanks Rick!

I stay active, lots of outdoor activities, canoeing, spelunking, hiking, rock climbing and rappelling, trail running, scuba diving and snorkling, even tried  something new this week, called a Spelio box, where you crawl through a box of mazes, in the dark, like a tight cave. Don't go in one of these if your claustrophobic! I'm going to be 54 soon, and will surely want to go another 54 years in great health, energy and activity!

I use suppliments, and have for going on 20 years, and I contribute my great health to that, plus good mental outlook and plenty of excersize, clean pure water too!  I don't eat pork meat, and prefer my chicken, fish, and beef to be organic and range fed. Eat fresh grown garden veggies in season, and fruits too~

Always hungry for knowledge, and thats why I'm here!

Good for you Paul. I'm 50

Good for you Paul. I'm 50 and probably feel better (and look it) than I was at 40. Quiting my shift work ,great $$$$ job and making time to look after my health and spend more time with my 2 kids was the best decision I ever made. I'm boarderline obsessed with playing hockey and hope I can for the next 20 yrs. I played in a mixed tourney with a man who was 73! Its all in eating right and getting excersize....also helps me mentaly. What good is money without good health. The "fresh" veg. we get in the store do not hold the nutritional value they used to. My solution....grow your own. That way I get extra excersize, save money and get a better tasting product...not to mention the tan. Have a healthy day, Phyllis

Thank you Paul, Thank You Phyllis

It's interesting that the two of you would jump right in here. You are both active and have a good sense of what good eating is about and what it can do for a body.

What would you suggest to "city" folk who are unable to grow their own veggies?

Hi Folks, I'm William A.

Hi everyone,

I'm 48 by the way, and I too have changed a lot about my diet. I pay more attention to my nutrition than I did 10 yrs. ago. Although I must admit that I wasn't the poster-boy for excersize, I am now more active than I used to be. I am about to resume my walking regiment (I hike up and down Stone Mountain) and I got i bike (I live in Georgia so this bike riding is giong to be a challenge as we have no level streets that I know of!). I will pick up more activities as I go along. I also look forward to a lot of swimming this summer.

I look forward to the subjects we will be discussing and hope I can provide informative input.

Let's get Physical!!

Veggies for 'City' Folks

For all The 'City Folks' out there who can't (or won't) grow their own gardens, may I suggest finding a Whole Food Store or one that has on Organic Food Section. These foods are grown with no preservatives or additives (Supposedly) and are a lot healthier for you. They are also better for you if you are considering Juicing as a nutritional option.

I've tried a lot of them and they actually taste pretty good. They are a little more expensive but to me, they are worth the cost. Just a suggestion.

A hello from me!

Hi All,

Glad for the invite.

I'm headed towards that magical age of 42 (42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything, don't you know!)

My challenge is that I've gotten in to the pattern of being sat down an awful lot - in the car, at the airport, on the plane (I travel alot) - and when not travelling - the office!

I used to be much more active as an air force officer, and frankly, I could do with being more active, eating better etc etc etc.

I am blessed with having a pretty positive mental attitude, and I tend not to get ill, and my body mostly does what it says on the tin!!

Looking forward to experiencing new perspectives from the group, and sharing mine!

Cheers

Martin

William, Martin - Welcome!

Gentlemen,

Thanks for your posts. Since most everyone who has posted here is into physical activity I would suggest getting up from the computer every hour and run around the house. No, really. I get so caught up with something I am doing on the computer I forget. Set an alarm to get up, stretch, march in place, get the blood from your butt back up to your head!! ;-)

RICK

OK, OK. I'm up and moving!!

GOOD HEALTH IS THE GREATEST GIFT THERE IS!!

Thanks for starting this group Rick.  Often we do not think about or do anything about our health until we are facing illness.  Soooo foolish!!

I am blessed with good genes but also I am conscientious about eating healthy (mostly vegetarian....but cant resist that chicken), paying for the extra value of organic produce and watching my weight (always a challenge - as I love the sweets!!)  Developing a regular physical program is my greatest challenge altho I really enjoy my 3xweek yoga classes.  Now that it is getting nicer out, I plan to add 3xweek 1-hr walks.  That should be no problem....just need to develop the habit.

Recently I have really benefit from and enjoyed doing the 30-day mental cleanse suggested by Mentoring for Free - avoidance of all negative imput (i.e. news), people and negative thoughts.  FEELS GRRRREAT!  (As Tony the Tiger would say).  Our attitude is a critical part of our health.

I have a 20-yr vision for caring for and sheltering cats.  so I really want to be healthy to do that AND to support others with similar causes.  This is the reason for my internet marketing involvement.  My pension is fine for me.....but not adequate for the furry ones.

Life is good and I am loving this BN involvement.

Stay well and strong and healthy everyone

All the best

Health and its benefits

Hi Rick, Thanks for starting this group and I am sure that it will benefit most members. I will be 65 in September and just love the blessing of God. I am very health and honestly eat every type of food. The key is to eat in moderation, never endolging in anything too much. Love cooking and as such really go out to restaurants.

For the past 35 years, I do not have lunch meals but will eat almost six serving of fruits including Yougurt.

I feel good and very thankful for each day.

Enjoy

Veggies and Exercise

Lots of good ideas! I am fortunate and have a garden. Yesterday I had breakfast in the garden, picking blueberries and raspberries and eating them. This is a great time of year for healthy food. The garden is producing beets, squash, tomatoes, green beans and green peppers.
I guess I had better take Rick's advice and go out and pick some of those veggies.
Enjoy your healthy supper tonight!

The Missing Link in Health

Hello! I am pleased to find this group within BN because my passion is health and alternative healthcare. It's difficult to pursue a business or much of anything in life if you are not healthy and feel sick.
To answer Rick's question, my health challenges began sneaking up on me gradually as I got older - I am 62 - and my lab tests 2 years ago showed that I would need to go on high blood pressure medicine. I was shocked! I am not overweight, I exercise, I eat right, and I drink plenty of water. My family medical history didn't support it either. I was introduced to the concept of nutritional cleansing and replenishing of all the filtering organs and systems of the body, and after just 4 months of being on the products, my lab results came back 20 points lower in everything! I didn't have to go on medication and I feel great!
The way it works is the body gets clogged with toxic debris over time, and our natural ability to filter out those toxins is just overwhelmed by our environment. Our immune system is compromised and fat cells cling to toxins to protect us. I believe that is at least part of the reason we see such an epidemic of obesity and chronic illnesses in our American society today.
I was VERY skeptical but I did my own "due diligence" and found the research that supported all this, if anyone is interested....
