Leveraging comes in many forms. One way to leverage your influence and time in direct sales is definitely to leverage your time by using auto responders and auto calls that prescreen prospects for them to be strong candidates before you ever talk to them directly. But if that is the limit to your leveraging, then you create a climate where more prospects will have to be developed by you down the road because your drop off will be significant. This will also add to the cynicism already present in direct sales.
My focus for leveraging is in mentorship. If I give excellent support and expertise to my team, then I will have to prospect new people much less. In fact, I had the least amount of attrition on my team then anyone else in that group and was asked how I did it. My answer was simple, care for your team. Make their goals more important than your own. Celebrate their success greater than your own. Sacrifice your own short term success for theirs. I am convinced that this will not only create more stability for my income, but will give a greater image for direct sales as a whole. Besides, it is a moral high ground.
If I can duplicate myself, my values, my techniques, my expertise in a few leaders, and they do the same; we can change the entire climate that clouds network marketing and motivates attorney generals to shut down mlms. This leveraging mindset is a principle written about in a very popular book…the Bible (2Tim2:2)
Everyone I know in this business says they will support you, but few do. If we make ourselves servants for others, we will change the cynicism of this industry and renew hope for thousands of people if not more.
