The Biggest Mistake I see people Making in MLM

The biggest mistake I see the majority people making in this industry is selling, and convincing their prospects on their product or opportunity. This is an absolute MLM NO-NO. Here's why: people don't like to be sold. People like to be introduced or exposed to something that may pose a potential benefit to them, have the opportunity to review information, and make an informed decision for themselves WITHOUT someone trying to sell them on something.

Instead of selling or convincing. Simply expose what you have to offer, ask questions to find out if what you are exposing them to may potentially benefit THEM. Give them access to information where they can learn more. Give them time to do their due diligence. Then, Follow Up, and collect a decision. This process is so much more professional, and courteous. It will never create an uncomfortable situation for you or your prospect.

This will prove to be a much more effective method of exposure of whatever product or service you are offering. Your prospect will view you as a professional, whether or not they decide to purchase your product or service for whatever reason. This keeps the door open for a possible future relationship, as the timing for the individucal may not have been right. Remember, if you maintain a professional, polite, and courteous approach, a NO typically means, Not Right Now. It's simply a timing issue. Very likely, if you see a potential benefit for this prospect, and this prospect saw a potential benefit with your product or service, it was simply a timing issue. Ask them if it would be okay to keep them informed with new information as you get it.

If you have handled yourself properly with the prospect, they will of course tell you they want to stay informed, and likely will do business with you in the near future. The key to this though, is to send them new, pertinent info as you get it. And, touch base with them via phone every once in a while, and not just to push your product. In fact, if you touch base, and see how they are doing, focus on rapport, and the building of the relationship, they will bring up the subject, and tell you they want to get it now, or join your opportunity.

I hope this information was helpful.

God Bless- and may all your dreams come true.

So True....

Yes, this is where we all came from the MS mindset.

People do not want to be persuaded and convinced.

They want to be educated : )

You know what I find sad

You know what I find sad though? I find so MANY Network Marketers who don't want to take the time and invest in themselves. They don't want to learn, they just want other's to do the work for them.

Well put

Hey Zeb, glad to see I'm not the only who thinks like this.  Sometimes I gotta wonder. There are too many maketers out there who hate to be sold to, but don't undertand how that translates to how they should conduct their own business, completely ignoring the obvious. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers! Rick

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who said...

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest"

How right you are Paul. And, if that's the kind of person they are, then they are really not who we are looking for at all.

We look for people who recognize that they have the power to do anything they want to do, if they are willing to invest in themselves, and learn how to become a professional. It starts with belief in themselves. If they can't see it, if they don't believe it, they CAN'T achieve it. And, if that is their mindset, then what they need is to be encouraged to engage in information that can first lead help them to get rid of that mindset that is like the plague. The plague of their entire life.

If this is someone you feel has some potential if they can get over that mindset. I might suggest saying this to someone with this kind mindset: "John, how long have you felt that you are not good enough? John might respond "What do you mean" You say: "you know, not good enough have the lifestyle that you have always wanted. As long as you feel this way, you'll never have anything in life that you truly desire. I am going to make a suggestion, take it or leave it, but I used to have a similar mindset until, I read the first chapter of a book called The Magic of Thinking Big and I am confident, that if you read that first chapter, you'll be on a fast track to a better life."

This is a poweful book, and does have the power to change the way people think. And, when you say read just the first chapter, it is not as intimidating as read the entire book, which increases the chance of them ever picking it up.

When you believe in yourself, every investment you make, both in time and money, to increase your knowledge to improve your skills is worth it's weight in gold.

I think the people who are most successful in MLM is the people who fall in love with process of learning. It's one of the most rewarding aspects of this business aside from the money, is the education you get, that NO univeristy in the world can give you.

I am glad you brought this up Paul. Thanks for your comment.

biggest mistake

Yes Zeb this is the biggest mistake and its an intuitive response that people make imposing there will and trying to force a quick sale instead of leading the horse to water.
