New Breed of Network Marketers

Subject: New Breed of Networkers.

When you hear the words “Network Marketing” or “MLM” what are the first thoughts that come to your mind? For several of you I am sure those words are associated with negative thoughts, feelings or emotions. I know for me personally that was the case. When I first was approached to take a look at this industry - I laughed. I thought to myself I own a “real business”, why would I ever consider network marketing. You see, like some of you my parents were involved MLM about 20 years ago. I still remember them selling hairsprays, deodorant and Toothpaste. Ugh, that toothpaste still gives me the chills just thinking about the taste! Yeah, I definitely wrote off network marketing by the time I was 10. It was only after a series of ups and downs in my so called “real business”, and watching some very close friends have incredible success in MLM, that I decided to take a look at the industry. For me that meant I had to set aside any preconceived notions I had and actually look at all the facts before coming to a conclusion. I don’t know about you but for me this can sometimes be tough when you have held an opinion for so many years!

When I first began investigating this industry I was as big as skeptic as it gets. However; after doing some investigating let me share with you what I found. I realized there is a new breed of network marketing professionals popping up all over the world. Some of the people I found involved included Harvard graduates, Dr’s, lawyers, realtors, mortgage professionals, etc. just to name a few. This was now an industry where college graduates and business professionals of all sorts were turning to by the millions. My question was why? I went on to learn that this industry had come a very long way since the time my parents were involved. Large corporations had begun to realize the power of “word of mouth advertising”. It is the most powerful way to reach a consumer on the planet. Companies like Coca Cola, Microsoft, AT&T, IBM, Sharp, Texas, Instruments, Gillette, and Colgate are now distributing some or all of their products through the Network Marketing channels. More importantly for me, the way to make to money in the industry had changed dramatically. The compensation plans got bigger and better! No longer do you have to stockpile a bunch of product and go sell it to make money. No more garaging!

Another HUGE testimony builder for me was some of my heroes, (all of which I had their books in my home) were promoting this industry. Powerful people like Donald Trump, Steven Covey and Robert Kiyosaki. (Who doesn’t own Rich Dad Poor Dad right?) They are all endorsing this industry for the same reasons. The first is low barrier of entry. Where else can you be in business for yourself for a few hundred dollars? I know my traditional business cost me over a hundred thousand dollars. Also, in that business I had to develop and pay for my own marketing, build the infrastructure and systems, manage the employees, do all of the sales, meet payroll, etc. I could go on and on. The cost and time commitment to run a business today can be overwhelming. None of this exists with an MLM business. You are in business for yourself, but not by yourself! The second reason is the principle of leveraged time and leveraged income. Most of you reading this are probably used to trading time for dollars. When you work - you get paid. When you aren’t working you aren’t making any money. Network marketing allows you to make money using other people’s time and efforts. I really didn’t understand the power of leverage until our organization began to grow. In the beginning it was slow. It was my wife and I working on our business and that’s it. Soon it was us and a group of 4 others, then 12 others and soon it was several hundred and on and on until eventually our business reached other time zones around the world. Let me expand on this just a bit further so you really get the concept of Leverage. When my wife and I now go to bed, people on the other side of the world are just getting up going to work for us. We are making money 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Whether we work or not, we are making money. By leveraging others time and efforts, we have now created a residual income that pays us when we are asleep or even on vacation. John Paul Getty said it best when he said “I would rather get paid 1% of 1000 people’s efforts vs. 100% of my own.”

No matter what your feelings are on network marketing, it’s hard to deny that business is booming! The industry has proven to withstand the skepticism and judgment over time. Now, it has evolved into one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Professionals from every industry are getting in on this craze, and more millionaires will be created in this business - over any other industry in the world in the next 10 years. Many experts will tell you, the best way to make money is to get in front of the trends. Consider this fact; a home based business is opened every 10 seconds in the United States. Furthermore; now more than ever people are searching for a way to generate a secondary source of income, and they don’t know where to find it.

In close, I would suggest before you write off this industry due to any preconceived notions, you may want to explore the possibilities of network marketing for yourself. You may just find you are the next Network Marketing Professional in the industry.
