Any Successful Down Under Marketing Strategies?
Group: Networking Down UnderHas anyone had any success with offline marketing down under?
I find business cards a cheap and effective way to get my name around.
I buy mine from VistaPrint.com - actually when I say buy I mean I get them free. If you only order when they have a sale (which is about every week once you are on the email list) you can get cards for free and only pay for postage.
They also do T-shirts and all manner of things which also can be ordered for the cost of postage in sales.
Back to the cards - they are cheap enough that you can give them out to everyone you meet. Anytime anyone wants my name or details for any reason (shop checkouts - bank teller - garage) they get it on a card - my name is hard to spell anyway.
I printed off an A4 poster and put it up in local garage window (with permission) and had a bunch of business cards in a pocket on the inside. I supplied a stack to the local tavern. I also make a habit of giving away 2 at a time. It is surprising how often people give the card to someone they know that can use my services. If I get one refferal for every 250 cards its still a cashflow posative method of advertising.

My "to do" list includes organising some business cards to use in the fashion you have alluded to here. The quandry is just how much to put on it. Enough to pique their interest but not so much that they will jump to conclusions. What does yours say? (Other than Dean McNamara :)
What Else Is There To Say ;)
Hi Russell,
I actually have several different cards, depending on which hat I am feeling like promoting LOL.
I don't usually put too much on them. I have a catch phrase and my details.
For example, my landscaping business has:
"Moving the Earth for you"
I call it "Sectionator" and have a modified "Gladitor" picture on the card. Which gets a lot of good comments.
For an MLM company I would target the people you are trying to attract. For example are you after people who want to suppliment their income, or are you after people trying break out of the poverty cycle? Tailor your phrase to that particular market. Maybe you are concentrating on health benefits (depending on your MLM).
You might just have:

Phone Russell 555555
Or you might have a website to send them to specifically geared to the people your cards recommend.
Other successful methods I have heard use a telephone message. Your card says call this number for a recorded message. That way they feel less threatened knowing they won't get a live person. From the phone message they are given instructions to take it further if they like the pitch.
There are lots of options Russell. And it is a cheap way to test different things to see what works best for you.
Good luck.
