Laura. The industry has been changing so rapidly over the last 5 years that people are getting jaded with the upline support, good product announcements etc.
What people really need and are looking for is a system with proven, duplicatable methods (note I used the plural) that work ! Provide that for them and you'll have people calling you to join your opportunity. Without that your promises are no different than the millions of other opportunities they see out there. Sad but so true.
I wish you well on your journey to getting out of the "just over broke" category. Been there and understand how frustrating it can be without the professional guidance someone needs to be truly successful in this industry.

I have been there done that, as far as proving the duplicatable system. That didn't work either. I did way better with Melaleuca years ago just by doing home-parties and I'm leaning toward taking my business pretty much offline and into the real world at this point. It seem that being able to SEE a person face to face holds more water for most folks, than the internet stuff. Frankly, I can't say I disagree that I'd rather see and touch someone in person than trust some "text being" online.
Thanks for you insight but I meant what I said in my ad. I am a DARN good mentor, faithful, helpful, and full of integrity and someone who joins me won't regret it.

I can read your frustration and not sure what you meant by the duplicatable system. But what you did miss was the multiple method(s) I was referring to. The internet is just one of them and you are right on with the face to face (which is ONE method within a good system).
The choice to go back to Melaleuca because the face to face worked there should be based on a business decision. Is the compensation plan encouraging? or discouraging? In other words if you want to build business builders then you need to look at 1.) can my new people make money right away (encouraging) or 2.) are the requirements (autoship) too high (discouraging when they are starting to stock pile a bunch of products). They look for business builders as no one can just be a customer without the autoship attached. *May have changed over the last several years but that's the way it used to be.
If you want to do a lot of home parties and face to face, if that is your forte, then I would suggest you look at a company like Shaklee. Their compensation plan, as a stair step break away, pays well when you have a solid base of customers. However, discouraging when you bring in business builders.
My best advice to you would be to find the upline that is going to provide you and your team with a system with LOTS of different methods to build your business which will have all the necessary ingredients of an "encouraging" compensation plan. Then everything, I promise you, will fall into place.
