16 and I Don't Know My Dad!

Group: The Dad I Wish I Had

It broke my heart to hear a young lady say that she never heard her father’s voice. She new where he lived, and the dad knew where she lived, but for some reason never reached out to have a relationship.

She said this opened the door for her to look for “love” in other places, because she wanted validation from a man.

On the flip side, I’ve heard young men say the same thing about their dads. One young man was so mad that he said that if he saw his father’s body on the side of a road…he wouldn’t stop to help him! Wow!

This left him in a place of not knowing how to treat, love or take care of a woman. So he just did what he thought he was supposed to do by proving his manhood by sleeping with as many woman as possible.

This situation of fatherless homes is like two trains getting ready to collide head on. And you know who gets hurt the most…the children conceived in those relationships.

If you are hurting from not having a true relationship with your father, I want to encourage you to know that God loves you so much that he sent Jesus to let you know that he wants to not only be your God, but also your Father! Remember the prayer Jesus taught his disciples? It begins with, “Our Father”!

Know that you are not forgotten, and you are loved more than you know!
