Automated Systems Vs Relationship building and Teamwork

I would love to hear from people about how their business helps people (if it does) and if that makes it easier to promote it/offer it to others. Would you be able to promote a business if you knew deep down that it was simply a numbers game (like enrolling X amount of people, getting your bonuses, and leaving them to fend for themselves, then repeating the process). There seems to be so many automated systems out there today, and not a lot that consist of human contact and relationship building.

So What's your take on it all?
