PPC Lab Update - Act 1: The Setup

Group: The PPC Lab

Read More: Marketing  |  Pay per Click  |  Sponsoring and Recruiting

OK, so I am finally getting this group started.

If you are new to PPC (pay per click) advertising, let me know. If I get enough requests I will work on a primer. But for now we're going to dive right on to the meat and potatoes of using ppc advertising to make money online.

Now you may be saying, "but I thought this was a network marketing community?" and you are exactly right. I am actively building my organization online, but one thing I learned very quickly when I first got into network marketing about 16 years ago was that I needed to find a way to make money like RIGHT NOW. I don't know about you but I wasn't a super star recruiter, and knew that my long term passive wealth creation was going to revolve heavily on building my organization, but I had bills to pay that week.

So by showing an example of how to use ppc advertising, and in particular using affiliate marketing in conjunction with ppc, will give you an option for creating extra passive income. This is one method I personally use to offset my need for immediate income while I build my mlm business. There are many other ways, but as I said before I am going to try to keep this group very focused on a narrow path.

I believe in mastering one skillset at a time before cluttering the toolbox with too many options; especially when it applies to a beginner.

* One more quick note, I do plan on doing all of this with video at some point, I just need to get over my stage fright first.

OK, on with the show...

It is now 3:54 MST by my clock and what I'll be doing is using ClickBank, my favorite choice for finding "other people's" products to sell online, and Google Adwords as my choice for the ppc ads. There are 101 options out there for ppc networks and affiliate programs you can choose. ClickBank and Adwords are simply the most popular and will allow for maximum speed of implementation for this first exercise.

I laready have an idea of what I want to target so I just need to do keyword research to find my starter list. I focus on finding around 10-20 longtail phrases that have potential for producing at least 100-250 clicks per day; more is better. What I want to do is get this campaign tested as quickly as possible so I can determine if I have a winner. I'll also know if it's a loser so I can move on without wasting time or money.

So I'm going to go get all of this setup now. I will be using an existing Adwords account, but everything else will be totally new. I've never sold anything in the market I am thnking about, in fact I'm not even sure it's worth it pursuing yet, but we'll see. The point is I will not be showing you data from something I already did; this is totally real time and on the fly.

So that's it for now... I'll be back in a bit to share some more details.

In the mean time please share and ask questions if you'd like. I'd really like to see some conversations get started on here as quickly as possible; the more meat (or veggies if you prefer) we have to feed everyone the more useful this group will be to the community.

PS: In case you are wondering, I will not be sharing the niche, keywords, product or URL that I choose. I've done this before and 2 things happen like clock work...

  1. Someone goes out and copies what I did, exactly how I did it and completely skews the results of the case study.
  2. Secondly, if I just tell you what I did then you wouldn't have to think for yourself, and even if you did go out and try to duplicate the campaign, well, see  #1.

Cheers!
~ Richard

Oops...

I totally forgot that we had a dinner party tonight and I was cooking for the whole thing. So this first campaign has been delayed until tomorrow morning (or today, depending when you read this), anyway Wednesday morning. I'm usually in my office by 10am MST. At which point I will be setting up te campaign and making an update here.

Sorry for the confusion.

Talk to you tomorrow.

The Lab

Hey Bravo,

Great idea for a group. I hope it grows exponentially as PPC seems to be an area of much intrigue, yet little action or disclosure. I look forward to your lessons and discussions. One thing worth considering...perhaps the information you provide could be a tad more specific and formatted with bullets, headlines, etc. This may give us groupies a better experience and easier read.

To avoid your aforementioned skewing, maybe you can share a campaign you have already followed from beginning to end? Successful or not, the exact process could be helpful to folks who have no idea where to start... independent thought aside, of course.

I totally trust ya, bro and like what you're doing. Just throwin in my .02.

And yeah, that stage fright's a bear. But the only way to get better at it is to get out there and do it. I even saw a guy named the "Faceless Guru" who puts a paper bag over his head for his videos. Kind of weird, but hey, he's out there, right? lol.

PPC Campaigns Getting Started

Hi Richard,

Good to see someone brave enough to throw it out there. I think this is a great idea for a Group.

Just got started with my first PPC campaign on Google after watching a hundred videos and reading everything I could get my hands on. But nothing beats the personal connections we can develop here. No B.S. just straight talk about successful campaign strategies or absolute failures,

Looking forward to it!!

Andre

Thanks this is great

I have been doing PPC for a while and I am here to say you have a good idea for a group. There is nothing I hate more than wasting time and money. I will help anyone with this because it has in the past cost me a lot of money for very little results.

One of the thing that I will always do is run a small test on my ad. I never jump in and throw a lot of money at an ad. Keep the cost down until you are sure that the ad will produce the right results. a largw click through rate is good butnot if you are not getting sign ups.

I will run an ad and find out what the click through to sign up rate is, Then I will change the words a little and run a second ad at the same time and see which one works better. I keep changing the words around because one small tweek could make all of the differance in the world.
