Kick Towards the Goal

How do you make sure you win the game? By making sure you score the most goals.
Firstly, You will have your own GOALS. (You have set your own goals, right?) You need a goal, because without one how do you know if you are achieving what you set out to do. Let’s take the analogy of the football player. As an individual (and as part of a team) the footballer is kicking the ball towards the goal. There has to be a specific goal area towards which he will kick, or he will be kicking the ball aimlessly all over the place. Even if the footballer is kicking the ball in the right direction generally, he still needs to know where to place the ball to score points. He must have a goal – so must you, in order to be successful in your business.
Your goal may be big, for example: to earn $1million. Or perhaps smaller: to earn an extra $200 a month. Doesn’t matter if that goal is big or small – what matters is that you have defined it. And the ball that you are kicking towards the goal is your Business. So it doesn’t matter if you need something different to others. You cannot define your own success by the success of others (although it is useful to study those who are indeed successful in order to get ideas of what you can also achieve, and how to achieve it).
Never forget however that your goals are your goals. To coin several old phrases: “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”, “Each to their own”, “Horses for courses”, and “It takes all sorts to make a world” etc. Just don’t be fooled or misled by what others can or cannot do. There is a good reason why there is usually a statutory disclaimer at the bottom of the page in many home-based or MLM business opportunities. You may have different limitations, expectations, abilities to other people, or indeed financial constraints (a major consideration when starting any business!) so you should start by setting a goal which feels right for you. Just YOU.
You must decide what it is that will fill the need you have at this moment in time. Of course that may change over time – so you will change your goal to suit your needs. Maybe once you have earned the $1million you don’t feel you want to earn any more? OK, unlikely maybe, but if that is the case, you simply make your next goal smaller at that stage. Maybe once you are regularly earning an extra $200 a month you decide you want more. Then you can expand your goal to suit you at that time in your life. You don’t have to have the same goals as anyone else, and you don’t have to have the same goals all of the time, but is IS Important to have goals.
Ever watched your kids playing with a ball in the park? Depending on their ages of course, they are either good at kicking the ball straight or they are not! But over time, with guidance and a little practice, they all become better. Not all become brilliant -but everyone becomes better!
Many business opportunities will ask you to think for a few moments about what YOUR goals are. This is for good reason. It is to get your attention, make you focus, and YOU decide how you are running your business and why. No-one else can do that for you. Make the commitment immediately – it is easier to score a goal in the net if you know which direction to kick the ball from the start of the game.
