As a trainer, mentor, coach and leader in the network marketing industry I hear the following statement and question over and over again.
Statement: I’ve exhausted my warm market and I don’t have anyone left to talk to about my opportunity.
Question: How can I expand my “Warm Market” so I will have more prospects to share my opportunity with?
In almost every form of business we have what is referred to as a "Warm Market" and a "Cold Market."
Our warm market is made up of the people that we have an existing relationship with that is based on time and trust. These are the people that know us the best, have known us the longest and know our personal histories of success.
Our cold market on the other hand is made up of people that we don't know very well, have no existing relationship with and/or have yet to meet.
Everyone that we encounter in life starts out in our cold market except perhaps for our parents and grandparents who love us unconditionally from the very start. Virtually everyone else including our siblings we need to build a positive relationship with otherwise they become our worst critiques.
Allow me to illustrate this point for a moment... if we turn on the HOT water faucet do we immediately get HOT water, or does it take time to warm up before it gets HOT?
We all know the answer is that it takes some time to for the water to warm up and the same thing can be said to be true with people. The thing we all need to remember, is that it's up to us to be the reason that the warming process takes place.
I’m sure that right now some of you reading this might be thinking, sure Jim that's easy for you to say but how do we do that?
The answer is actually very simple because the most valuable gift you can ever give to anyone, is the gift of yourself and your friendship. Therefore, just relax and be yourself... be open and honest with people... allow them to see that at your very core you're just like them... one of god's creatures looking to make a friend and make the world a better place. one person at a time starting today with the reflection in the mirror.
I challenge you to go out and meet some new people today and make some new friends... the world; your world will become a better place because you chose to make it so.
The most important thing to remember in order to expand your warm market and more importantly your circle of friends… is to focus on being interested in other people as opposed to being interesting to other people.
Success is a choice—here’s to yours.
