This is an excerpt from my new article on Better Networker:
"Some of us know exactly what we want to do with our lives by age five.
"I want to be a fireman!", "I want to be a doctor!", "I want to be a teacher!"
and so on. The rest of us don't have a clue and live our lives like a leaf in a
stream sometimes flowing down the center, other times bouncing off rocks
or caught in a crevice going nowhere.
What's the difference between us and them? They may say "I want to be a
teacher" but what they mean (their WHY) is "I want to help others to learn."
They know what they want and WHY! They are also willing to do
whatever it takes to fulfill their WHY.
Do you know what you want out of life? Is your answer to that question,
"I want to make a lot of money"? Well, how do you plan to do that?
Making lots of money is NOT A GOAL! It's not even a real "WHY", which is
some reason to keep you going, something that lights a fire under you
giving you the enthusiasm and commitment to keep going no matter what."
