Are disappointments crippling or enriching you?
Group: BetterNetworker.com Suggestions and DiscussionsYou've probably heard the expression, "When people are lame they love to blame."
Ask yourself, am I acting on this principal? Sometimes the emotional pain from failures are so strong that what often makes one feel better is to push the blame onto someone else. Therefore releasing the pain and fault.
When we have disappointment or are let down it's all too easy to find some "justifiable" reason. My leads aren't good enough, my company isn't good enough, my products aren't good enough. It's time to see through what most don't & why most quit.
Blame shifting is a human condition that comes into play frequently. It's an old habit left over from our childhood. When we were children (and didn't know any better) this was our way of expressing & trying to escape our feelings. "I didn't get my way & you're to blame."
Think about it, how often do you hear your own children making those claims. Now, how often to you make them in a more grown-up way with more excuses attached.
Now that we're adults it's time that we took stock of our own failings. Instead of blaming others, let's shift our focus on learning from all those disappointments.
To err is human....
to use those errors to grow and conquer you own fears is to succeed. Instead of blaming your clients, company, spouse, children, or whatever other excuse you've concocted; turn the conversation around & ask what you've learned from this failure. How could you have done things differently to avoid it. Don't let you own anger, hurt, or rejection keep you from learning a valuable lesson. Doing this will not only enrich your skills, but your life. We truly become free to make good decisions when we can draw from all of our experiences & gain insights from them. By turning today's failings into motivators will easily allow your future success to happen.
