Welcome
I am happy to see you all here. I hope you will leave a comment or a thought about having integrity and values in the way you do business and interact with those you server in your family.
A Warm Welcome
I have been an entrepreneur since 1977, when I was first introduced to Network Marketing.
It is the spirit of entrepreneurship, in providing products and services that people need and want, that grows the economy of countries in which you and I live. Not only is this important and necessary for our immediate economy, but it is essential for our well-being and self-worth to know that we can have some sort of control of our lives. When I learned this, my spirit lifted higher than it has ever been lifted before.
It is this same spirit that gives us opportunities to do the same for other people too. The spirit of entrepreneurship is alive today, but it is not well. However, the spirit of entrepreneurship is growing stronger as people lose faith in the current system to provide them what they want and need.
People understand that it is their responsibility to provide for their families and their future. They also understand that no one else is going to provide what they need for them. They know that to get what they need and want, it takes dreams, vision, and hope to make things better for themselves and their families - along with perserverance and hard work.
Now that we understand these points, let me ask if you are prepared to be the kind of person that can put aside what you want and help people get what they need and want to fulfill their dreams? What do you have to offer them? Well, one thing you can do is give support, positive encouragement, and pool your knowlege and expertise here now in our group. Can you do that? If yes, then this is the place you need to be and I am happy you are here to help us.
Now it's your turn. What piece of knowledge do you want to share with us right now that will enlighten us and give encouragement to those who seek more knowledge?
What Should You Do In This Example?
This following situation is the honest truth. It happened to me in 1995-1996 when I was selling a liquid weight loss product.
I used the product myself and lost 52 inches in a month. Most all of my friends and relatives were using the product and doing well. After using the product for about three months, I noticed the company had changed the formula. It tasted different and it was a yellowish color instead of almost clear. I also noticed that the product wasn't working on me the way it used to a month earlier.
I contacted the company and asked them why they changed the product. They told me they had not changed the formula. I told them I knew they had, the taste and color were different and the product had stopped working. After 15 minutes of denial and me insisting that they had changed it, they finally admitted they had changed only one ingredient but the change had not made a difference.
All of what the man from the company told me on the phone was obviously not the truth. They had made a nasty tasting product taste tolerable. To top it off, the company told me that, if I wanted a refund on the unused product or on products the customers had used up and thrown away the bottles just like I had, would have to be returned to the company empty or else I could not get a refund on them.
Now keep in mind that I was talking to the top man, and he was the one denying changing the formula. He also told me that, unless I dumped out all the bottles and returned them empty, there would be no refund on the bottles that didn't work either. I only had a fourth of the bottles available for return so I took a huge loss, and a loss on all the unused bottles I had left and had to pay shipping to send back.
By that time, some of my customers were complaining that the product didn't work for them either. So then I had to confront an ethical problem regarding refunding the customer's money.
*Should I give all the money back to the customers
*Or should I tell him/her that the company changed the formula and won't honor a fair refund.
*In other words, customers will lose their money and so will I?
What would you do in this situation?
My solution: I returned all the customers money back to them (I did have a few empty bottle to return). In good conscience, I could not sell the unused bottles because I believed the product no longer worked.
I was lucky that I didn't take a bigger hit, it could have been much worse. The important thing though is that I was able to cover the loss and pay back all the customers so I had a clear conscience.
Thanks Judith
